Would I be unreasonable to wear...

I have a family wedding coming up. I'm not part of the bridal party, but it is close family so want to make a bit of an effort. The bride said she didn't want anyone turning up in their colours so didn't want to tell anyone. I said she would need to tell so that I could avoid said colours. Navy & Red. Would it be really rude if I bought a dark pink dress I've seen? worrying its a bit close to red? I'm a terrible shopper & haven't found anything else?

FuckTheMagicDragon Mon 28-Jul-14 02:32:31

Difficult to say without seeing the dress. But, tobe honest, as she's told you the colours, she may take it as deliberate. It's a little bit too close to red. Unless is patterned with other colours.

I'd avoid and find something else.

What's she going to do? Send you home

RitaConnors Mon 28-Jul-14 02:33:35

Dark pink is not red though so wear it!

WTAF

Wear the dress...

If her main priority on her wedding day is to observe the colours of everyone else's attire- question her mental state.

I'm also baffled as to how you are relating dark pink and red? Completely different in my mind.

Here you go magic dragon! what do you think?

ShakesBootyFlabWobbles Mon 28-Jul-14 02:46:13

Go for it, it is not red (or navy!).

DieDeutschLehrerin Mon 28-Jul-14 02:46:32

Definitely looks pink rather than red to me. Order ir, see what it's like in daylight, show it to the bride if you're still worried and if it's not right send it back.

Floop Mon 28-Jul-14 02:47:33

Wear it! its not red at all.

FuckTheMagicDragon Mon 28-Jul-14 03:11:00

After seeing it, go for it smile
Not red at all. Hope you have a lovely time.

Amy106 Mon 28-Jul-14 03:18:24

Lovely dress, definitely pink not red. I would go for it. Enjoy the wedding!

It's definitely pink, go for it. Lovely dress op

musicalendorphins2 Mon 28-Jul-14 03:42:44

It looks fine to me.

muffliato Mon 28-Jul-14 06:04:40

Wear it it's lovely. Nowhere near red.

Cinnamonandfruitloaf Mon 28-Jul-14 07:25:55

I think it's very bridezilla behaviour to ask guests not to wear certain colours. Granted, the photos look nice when everyone adheres to a colour theme but I think it's OTT to ask this (apart from the MIL wearing white!)

I'd wear the dress.

BobPatandIgglePiggle Mon 28-Jul-14 07:29:05

Wear it - it's nowhere near red!

shockinglybadteacher Mon 28-Jul-14 07:29:54

That is pink and very nice too. I'd go for it smile Definitely not red.

Do not understand "reserved colours" though, does this happen often at weddings?

LilyandGinger Mon 28-Jul-14 07:30:13

Very pretty, not even nearly red. Go for it.

BikeRunSki Mon 28-Jul-14 07:34:42

That dress is not red.

Navy and red for the bridal party? They are going to look like cabin crew.

indigo18 Mon 28-Jul-14 08:13:47

I don't get this; she didn't want anyone turning up in 'their' colours but didn't want to tell you what the colours were?
That's pink- go for it.

Pyjamaramadrama Mon 28-Jul-14 08:42:28

I'd wear whatever you like.

Why can't brides just be happy that their marrying someone they love, that friends and family are coming to see them, without telling people what they can/can't wear? It's really shitty behaviour imo.

TestingTestingWonTooFree Mon 28-Jul-14 08:48:01

That's pink, go for it!

halfwildlingwoman Mon 28-Jul-14 08:55:40

This bride has been sucked into the vortex of bridezillaness.
