I've been up all night with an ill DD(5) she has finally settled down to sleep but I can't go to bed as MIL insists she's still coming round at 9am, because her baby girl will need Nanny if she's not well don't you know Hmm

a huge slice of Chocolate fudge cake is perfectly acceptable in these circumstances right? maybe even some ice cream to go with it?

Yup. Definitely. And also a phone call to your mil to point out that what her DGD (and you) needs most is sleep (and a sane, not exhausted mummy).

Ooh yes, go for it if it makes you feel better!! In this weather the icecream is a necessity certainly not a luxury!

Trudges off for a bowl of boring porridge :(

Served warm with ice cream and a cuppa, lock the door and turn your phone off.

Sleep, sod mil

If it has to be eaten (which it does) then does it really make a difference what time of the day you eat it?

That's my philosophy.

Enjoy :-)

Leave out a huge pile of ironing in case MIL gets bored and go back to bed like a sensible woman!

Absolutely!
As an aside- I don't understand it when people let others disregard their wishes. You said no, ergo your MIL isn't coming round. End of discussion. If she wants to help, then she can come over this afternoon (if it's okay with you) and look after dgd while you get out for a bit for your sanity

The only problem I have with the OP is that you said "slice".

Eat the whole thing Blush

Tell your MIL if she must insist on visiting, next week you should be free. :o

Do it. And definately lock the door and ignore MIL. If she is going to disregard your wishes and put her own needs before your poorly DD, then she deserves to be ignored.

I had two donuts for breakfast. Go for it.

Then, text MIL, saying you're both sleeping, you'll call her this afternoon when you're up, then lock an bolt door and get yourself to bed. That's an order Wink

Yum. Smile. Absolutely acceptable.

Can you leave mil to cuddle dd while you get some zzz's?

BeckAndCall · 25/07/2014 08:57

Always acceptable. Just make sure it's all gone by the time MIL arrives.

Definitely acceptable. With cream or ice cream. Or both.

Leftover sherry trifle makes a good breakfast too.

Don't do it. Slippery slope. Eat it later otherwise next time it'll be ok too. Just saying. Mind you I'm not one to talk.

What are you talking about, elven it'll always be ok the next time too Grin.

Life's too short to worry about when you're allowed to eat cake Grin

Let your MIL in, point her at the ironing and get yourself off to bed.

No brainer

Hell yea. It's not even technically breakfast if you've been up all night, right?

As someone currently sat eating leftover Chinese for breakfast, I think you are being perfectly reasonable.

:) I had my cake, it was yum and so worth it and MIL is now forgiven as she brought me a bottle of coke and some chocolates. I'm now in my bed pretending to take a nap because its too bloody hot to actually sleep.

Ooh EduCated, I love left over chinese, I have left over pizza for lunch.
