...to expect my SAHM iron my shirt.

We are having this discussion over breakfast and I have borrowed her tablet and mn name to pose this question.
She has a three year old at part time nursery and a five month old. I work full time in an office. I offered to iron my shirts but she does them. They are often creased, my opinion, but she feels they are good enough.

For instance one shirt had a creased line down the buttons and I had to wear a tie. I pointed this out.

Am I being unreasonable pointing out the creases?

Yes.

Move out.

Problem solved for everyone.

BravePotato Tue 22-Jul-14 07:37:17

Yes

"She has a three year old....". So are you not the children's father?

PuppyMonkey Tue 22-Jul-14 07:37:36

Do the yourself then. Simples.

(Sorry for saying simples).

You'd get short shrift from me. Iron your own shirts, show your wife some respect. If you don't respect her now, take a week leave and look after your child yourself, with no help.

Yes

Also she is a sahm not your sahm though that would explain why you expect her to mother you grin

Sirzy Tue 22-Jul-14 07:37:50

If your not happy then do it yourself.

PuppyMonkey Tue 22-Jul-14 07:37:56

Them

Chumhum Tue 22-Jul-14 07:38:12

Yep iron it yourself or keep quite.

Yama Tue 22-Jul-14 07:38:19

I work full time. No-one irons my blouses.

FuckyNell Tue 22-Jul-14 07:38:39

Well it depends whether she is crap at ironing in general or just reserves it for your shirts

weegiemum Tue 22-Jul-14 07:38:45

If it's not done to your "standards" then do it yourself.

Personally I never iron. Not sure where the iron actually is ......

puntasticusername Tue 22-Jul-14 07:38:51

Er, he said he HAS offered to do them himself...

Tmrgl Tue 22-Jul-14 07:39:15

No. If a jobs worth doing.....

AugustaProdworthy Tue 22-Jul-14 07:39:20

Perhaps she does Magic Ironing like I do?
Get off your backside and either do it yourself or find an ironing service.
Or don't wear a shirt.

Chumhum Tue 22-Jul-14 07:39:21

And if you stay then apologise for being an arse.

TheFirstOfHerName Tue 22-Jul-14 07:40:20

Iron them yourself.

Yes, you are being unreasonable. Do them yourself.

IAmNotAPrincessIAmAKahleesi Tue 22-Jul-14 07:40:48

Offering to do them himself is no good, he either accepts how she does them and thanks her for doing it or just gets on with doing them himself

Yes.

Insist on doing them yourself.

SolomanDaisy Tue 22-Jul-14 07:41:14

Your sahm would be your mother, but you appear to be talking about your wife.

puntasticusername Tue 22-Jul-14 07:41:55

HE HAS OFFERED TO DO THEM HIMSELF.

Fairylea Tue 22-Jul-14 07:41:59

You've offered to do them - don't tell her that her ironing is shit just do it. Hide your shirts when you wash them and then iron them yourself.

I'm a sahm and I don't iron anything because I hate ironing. I hang everything up and hope for the best. If dh needs a shirt ironed he has to do it himself. I do the rest of the laundry etc though.
