School Rules and Celebs...

I know it really shouldn’t bother me but does it seem fair to you that a minor ‘Celebrity’, who sends their dc’s to a state school, should be able to take their DCs out of school in term time and then tell the world that they are all having a great time on the beach?

It is bad enough that they are also the only parents allowed to park in the staff car park when everyone else has to endure the daily search for limited spaces near the school!

The powers that be state that all parents have to abide by the new attendance rules unless there are ‘Exceptional Circumstances’. Does selling every minute by minute account of your life qualify?

I may well be being unreasonable but this has really made me cross!

Not unreasonable at all!

Perhaps they were prepared to pay the fine.

I get what you're saying about the car parking, but taking them out of school in term time, maybe the sleb just sucks up and payd the fines without worrying about it?

That would really bother me too. I might be tempted to risk looking petty and say something to said 'powers that be'.

who is it?

Probably because they can afford/don't care about the fine.

My guess is they paid the fine.

HaPPy8 · 18/07/2014 18:25

This of course depends entirely on who it is!

If it really is as easy as 'just paying the fine', doesn't that make a bit of a mockery of the principle of the rule though? I've heard so many stories of people being refused absence for sad family situations overseas and this whole 'pay the fine and go on holiday anyway' attitude just seems wrong.

Good luck OP, I was absolutely shot down in flames for starting the same thread about the Rooney's few weeks ago ha ha! Wink

Curious to know who the said celeb is though Wink Or can you at least tell us what they are famous for?! Wink

The Rooney's don't have school age kids though do they? I think Kai starts school in September

Glastogirl · 18/07/2014 18:33

Please tell! Grin or give us a hint so we can find them for ourselves!

I'm thinking possibly a footballer's wife?!

Nancy this I hadn't realised when I created my thread, therefore I accepted that IWBU! Wink

I'm sure they're paying the fine and not getting preferential treatment.

If it's someone that is likely to attract a lot of attention then it's not unreasonable that they can park in the car park either. I'm sure there'd be more complaints if they caused a big crush at the school gates!.

Report
SunflowerAnnie · 18/07/2014 18:36

I'm guessing that the Rooney's probably won't be sending their dc's to state school though so won't have to abide by the same rules.

Not one of these Towie gobshites is it?! Hmm

Even slebs might have exceptional circumstances, though posting pix of an ordinary family holiday suggests otherwise. In which case, they should be fined, like everyone else.

Letting them use the carpark when none others can strikes me as just plain wrong. At ours, only the mobility impaired can (both long term issues and those in plaster).

gordyslovesheep · 18/07/2014 18:37

yes sousebird mainly because Rooney's kids aren't of school age

YABU OP you have no idea if the leave was granted or if they will be fined - plenty of people have taken the fine and gone away because it still works out cheaper!

If there were genuine reasons for them to have to park in the staff car park then I wouldn't be quite so grumpy about it but there aren't.

Ref the holiday, they'll be fined the same as anyone else (and there definitely will be others taking their DCs out of school) so YABU. Ref the parking, not so sure, maybe they are hounded by paparazzi and would make it hazardous around the school gates otherwise???
