AIBU?

To feel uneasy at bf putting kisses at end of texts to ex?

My boyfriend has DC with an ex. They text which is fine but at the end of the texts - both to and from her - are several kisses. I've seen because I looked over his shoulder when he was texting and saw the text conversation between them. I asked him about it and he said its to "keep the peace" and "be friendly". He also still puts "hi sweetheart" (which to be fair he does say to lots of people) and said that was just "habit" with her. They've been split for ten years. I just found it a bit odd, maybe only because me and my ex are on very good friendly terms but we don't put kisses on texts, It wouldn't seem right to do that now. I told bf it bothers me but didn't ask him to stop it, as I get the idea that IABU and childish and insecure and stupid - I am aren't i?

Some people put kisses on the ends of their texts to most people. Does he?

What else does he do that makes you feel uncomfortable with his ex? If the answer is nothing. I'd not worry too much about this really.

I think a lot of people do it now, more to indicate friendship etc, to the point where it almost looks like you are being snippy if you dont.

It totally weirded me out when I got a text from DD's friends mum about a playdate with a kiss on it! Every text I get apart from the cold texts and ones from my mum (I dont know!) ends with an x now, so I send them like that too. Seems to be a new social norm!

Professionally I have texts from men and women, my rule of thumb is a) only put kisses where the client does first and b) - a) only applies for women - men just get a smiley :-)

If they've been split for ten years, and have maintained a good relationship, then a). it doesn't look as if they're likely to get back together, and b). he sounds like a decent type, if he's been able to keep it nice and amicable.

I really don't think there's anything to be worried about.
