To be disappointed I can't be cross (lighthearted)

I've had an invitation in to a wedding.

And I can't be cross. No demands, no poem, nowt.

Humph.

Well, I haven't been invited to a wedding for years now.
So YABU.
I hope they make you wear a colour you hate and do a coordinated dance.
wink

I can wear whatever I like. My presence is enough :D. Presents will be gratefully received but are not expected - they are aware many guests are travelling a distance and will just be happy to see everyone there. There's even a helpful sheet with directions/info on local hotels.

How flipping unreasonable of them!

I can't wait smile

That sounds really nice and thoughtful.
Can I come? Every wedding needs a random gate crasher, right?

shock Are you sure there's nothing?

Turn up in a white, floor length, gown. That'll teach them!

reluctantphotographer Tue 17-Jun-14 07:16:47

Absolutely smile I'm sure that will be fine (I really am - it really really is about the day and them getting married and they don't give a stuff about the details it's wonderful)

And I quote

"RSVP by email to xxx or phone to xxx - there's no need to reply by post if you're busy or it doesn't suit just let us know if you're coming or not"

Then info on the location, how to get there, flights, ferries, how to drive there blah blah

"Gifts. Your attendance is all that we wish for. Any gifts will be very gratefully received but please do not feel obliged. We understand that many of our guests will have traveled from afar and we really do appreciate the effort and expense."

And then there's a time plan for the day with a "you are welcome to join us for dinner the night before the ceremony we haven't confirmed the venue for that yet it might just be chips at xx pub we'll let you know"

They sound really nice, friendly, laid-back people and I bet their wedding will be wonderful. I know your intention was light-hearted but I think there's a valid point here about how the less people fuss about their wedding being "perfect", the more enjoyable it will actually be.

That sounds like a lovely wedding, enjoy grin

Lucky you. Perfect wedding...

Hazchem Tue 17-Jun-14 08:42:00

That is pretty much how I want my wedding to be when we eventually get married. If I can't have it calm and relaxed I don't want to do it.
I bet you will have a great time.

Just an update. I received an email on Saturday :

"Hi all.

We have had a few folks ask if we have a wedding list. We are very pleased that you're attending the wedding and we really want to reiterate that your attendance really is all that we wish for.

We have everything we need and your attendance is gift enough."

They really don't have a lot. It's not a big wedding they aren't loaded. Anything but. (Just in case anyone thinks they have tons of stuff already)

Can someone build a factory to turn out people like this, please?
