I got through fairly quickly on Friday on 0300 222 0000 (but from overseas). I got my passport the next day. Obviously, not on account of the phone call but I did get some information. I got mine back 7.5 weeks after the Liverpool office received my application

0845 6015175 - found this on a different thread. You ignore any messages it tells you about needing to have had a letter first and you may be on hold for a long time. Good luck

I got my passport - but it involved basically turning up at the passport office and staying all day - shocking but also yeeeeyyy!

Applied for DH's renewal and DD's first passport. They took 6 weeks. I phoned every 2 days from 4 weeks. I was promised a call back every (sodding) time - no one called back AND I had to allow 48 hours before they'd even accept a request for another call back.

Eventually I demanded to speak to a supervisor and fluke or not, both passports turned up 2 days later. But the best bit was that they'd put the wrong year of birth on DH's! Still, who doesn't want to spend their Saturday driving to Newport (from nowhere near Newport) to be told they're being done a favour as DH doesn't have his birth certificate. Guess why? The passport office lost it at his last renewal 10 years ago! Replacing it is an expensive nightmare as he was born in Kenya.

Gosh I've been really lucky! Started to fret when it hit the news last week thought I'd leave it to Wednesday to call, got a text Tuesday dating they were printed and received Monday so only 4 weeks! Thank God hope yours come soon! I did hear on the news about them offering the upgrade to fast track service for free though? You could try asking
