AIBU?

To serve ham sandwiches and sausage rolls at a Peppa Pig 'themed' party?

DD was 2 yesterday, and will be having a wee birthday tea tomorrow, with a couple of family friends. I have made a cake with some very ropey looking Peppa characters on it, and got some other piggy stuff for the younger guests to take home with them.

However, DH was pondering whether a pig-themed party should be a pork-free affair, or whether we should go the whole hog (so to speak) and do bacon sarnies and cocktail sausages to guests.

WWYD, oh wise MNetters?

Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha!!

It would never occur to me (I'm vegetarian and Jewish so wouldn't serve pig at a party anyway), but now you've mentioned it it's quite funny.

Your DH is an over-thinking comedy genius and I loves him Grin

Your crisps will need to be Frazzles.

No, you can't serve Peppa's relatives to the children Shock

I'd say that even if I wasn't a vegetarian,

No, no, no.

Sausage rolls and ham sandwich with pepper on them, of course.

As long as its just a few sausage rolls and ham sarnies I think you will get away with it Grin

I'd avoid serving this

This reminds me of an Easter many years ago. We had family visiting and had a huge Easter dinner with all the trimmings. That night the movie Babe (about a pig who wants to be a sheep dog) was on and so we all settled down in front of the TV to watch with the DCs as we ate sandwiches made from the Easter ham. No one realized the irony until my nephew threw down his sandwich and said "Oh, no, we're eating Babe!" We had to make cheese sandwiches for the DCs. Grin

Whole hog Grin

Hog roast, bacon sarnies, ham sandwiches, cocktail sausages, gelatine sweets, those Pig Face sweets... you can play 'Pin the cut of meat on the pig", and have a pinata shaped like the pigs you see hanging up in the butchers Grin

Yes they are made with gelatine but you can get veggie ones. :)

Yes Kveta, they are. Though perhaps it will be bovine gelatine, and from what I can remember, Peppa doesn't have a cow friend.

Reminds me of the time I had a guided tour round The Deep in Hull, followed by a seafood buffet.

I didn't eat much Hmm

Get some Percy Pig Sweets from M & S and use them to decorate the cake.

Mr Bull is bovine - everybody loves it when he digs up the road, disappears, and returns in jellied sweets Wink
