Happy for this to be moved to Chat if posters agree but thought I'd start it here as this is where we've all been loitering without permission when we should be doing our housework homework.

So welcome to a new term everyone. Cases upstairs to the dormitories, form lists on the notice board. And you'll all be pleased to hear that even though we've moved to a different location, Joey has tracked us - -down-- moved in next door, so we'll still be seeing too much plenty of her smile

Gertrud is in Exile. She is reunited with her mother eventually but doesn't return to the School.

Gertrud is in Goes To It, I think. She ends up shipwrecked or something but is saved by the English ship (?), sees the errors of her ways and tries to stop being a Nazi. However I don't remember her managing to track down her mother? Maybe that happens in a subsequent book or maybe I missed it - it feels a bit tricky to conclude her story without that part resolved, though I'm sure it's also the kind of thing which often did go unresolved during the war.

I sold all my CS hardbacks during a time of poverty a few years ago but in one there was a German girl called Getrud. I think it might have been Exile- they were on one of the Channel Islands.

What happened to Getrud? She was a school girl spy. Was she ever heard of again after that book?

My favourite was a very early one with a lovely Christmas setting.

Dawn French and Gina McKee is casting joy! We've done well my lambs...

I think my Chaletians are all much much too young. My age-guesstimates are as good as EBD's

Yeah! New thread!

I always picture Louise Brooks as Joey.

Not Bonnie Wright as Len, she's far too sandy-haired and plain.

Judi Dench as Matey?

Happydaysatlast Thu 19-Jun-14 20:00:16

I see Dawn going ja madam with a raised knife/eyebrow behind Joey head. Ace.

Tim McInnerny - Frank Peters?

LonnyVonnyWilsonFrickett Thu 19-Jun-14 19:57:09

I'm going to start a new thread - we're at 984!

RobinHumphries Thu 19-Jun-14 19:56:24

Michelle Dockery as Joey

Happydaysatlast Thu 19-Jun-14 19:56:20

fair that's her.

LonnyVonnyWilsonFrickett Thu 19-Jun-14 19:55:56

You are right of course Happy Helena is too short for Joey but she gives good maniacal madness.

Do you mean Gina McKee? I luffs her.

Talking of Notting Hill, can we find a part for Tim McInnerny? I luffs him too.

Happydaysatlast Thu 19-Jun-14 19:55:32

I see amy Adams as Margot as she can do a spiteful face when asked.

Ooohhhh what about then grace out of will and grace for Joey.

I will bend on all except Anna as dawn French.

fairnotfair Thu 19-Jun-14 19:53:19

Gina McKee!

Happydaysatlast Thu 19-Jun-14 19:52:48

How about Jane horricks as Rosalie Dene

I still see Helena as too short and beautiful for Joey! Joey is tall, skinny, pale and plain.

Oh what about, although she's not plain, that one out of noting hill in the wheelchair, also in the our friends in the north and Payton place. ( can't spell). She's tall, dark and skinny.

fairnotfair Thu 19-Jun-14 19:52:19

I always picture the Solid Lump of Comfort looking rather like Steve McQueen. Which is weird, because SM is yum, and the Solid Lump is distinctly unsexy.

fairnotfair Thu 19-Jun-14 19:51:08

Robin - Maybe Grace Kelly for Wanda (the loveliest girl ever to grace the CS, as we are reminded ad nauseam).

Scarlett Johanssen for Marie?

RobinHumphries Thu 19-Jun-14 19:50:29

katie Eichler as Gillian Linton?

LonnyVonnyWilsonFrickett Thu 19-Jun-14 19:46:25

Ikea Knightly? Chin Knightly? Surely mes filles she has to be Cornelia of the Flower??? <adjusts spreadsheet>

Bird off of Enchanted for Frieda whose name means peace? Amy Adams?

RobinHumphries Thu 19-Jun-14 19:36:29

Keira Knightley for Veta?
I'm stuck on Marie.... Grace Kelly?

Miss Wilson - Helen Mirren. Another great piece of casting.
