Friends are having their first DC soon. We were talking about names and one that they had settled on is the name of a character from a very well known kids TV show. Think Peppa Pig, Thomas the Tank Engine, Fireman Sam.

First name and surname the same, BTW.

Obviously they don't have DC so they don't watch kids TV yet. I wanted to tell them but DH said it would be really rude. Maybe in a few years this show won't be watched as much, but it's pretty popular so idk.

Who is BU?

No one is bu. You could mention it in passing in a very light hearted way. No need to make a big deal of it. If it's that well known someone will likely tell them anyway.

We know a couple who have two children, Ben & Holly. None of our business:)

Of course you should tell them. You can just say, oh mister tumble, what a nice name - just like the TV show! Or whatever.

I'd tell them. If it were me, I'd be thankful.

I would tell them.

Have you got a dc/dn etc that's of an age to watch it ? Safest way may be next time say something like "oh dc is watching too much tv at the moment - its that show with xx in it - obsessed with it at the moment"

A girl I worked with named her baby Johnny. Johnny Lewis. She was Confused when I grinned and mentioned the very similar name to the shop. She hadn't even considered it. Despite the fact we could see the huge sign for John Lewis from the window of where we worked....
