AIBU?

AIBU to want to revive Jilly Cooper thread?

Remember that thread about wanting to be a Jilly Cooper character?
I think that's me right now - I want to be going to a terribly glamorous office party (after a week of only eating steak and oranges) or holidaying in San Tropez with some very unsuitable tennis players.
Anybody with me?

Oh YES

The Horse Chestnut candles are out, the hawthorn flowering madly, etc

Forgettable · 18/05/2014 11:56

How naice

The lime leaves are acid yellow and there is acstpet of bluebells beneath the ancient trees in Badgers Wood.

I Taggie is stumbling over new blackberry runners and soaking in the beauty of the morning. my her hair a freshly washed cloud around my her face making my her silver eyes huge.

As I she swung round an oak I she barged into Rupert (the most handsome man in england) , who took me her in his arms, murmering tender words of love, and ravished me her on a bed of soft grass.

Bowlersarm · 18/05/2014 12:13

YANBU.

The smell of wild garlic in the hedgerows always makes me want to be in a Jilly Cooper bonk buster.

OverAndAbove · 18/05/2014 12:20

Ah yes, the acid reek of cow parsley in the hedgerows, after a rain shower. Just off to the local gymkhana - who knows what Italian show jumpers may have dropped in on their choppers

MrsMot · 18/05/2014 12:21

This might be just what I need to erase the trauma of watching the dodgy Riders adaptation on tv the other night. Marcus Gilbert was just soooooo wrong as Rupert. Now Michael Praed as Jake was a different matter...

OverAndAbove · 18/05/2014 12:21

I may give the fruit from my Pimms to a sturdy cob while I'm there...

MrsMot · 18/05/2014 12:22

Watch out for the nettles

JerseySpud · 18/05/2014 12:57

Mmmnnn i would do Luke Alderton anyday

Toothytwo · 18/05/2014 12:59

I'm rattling down the lanes in my ancient Mini, Primrose, with two labs hanging out the back windows. Must wash my hair later to get the garden out of my nails.

LizzieVereker · 18/05/2014 13:07

I'm in, for obvious reasons.

I'm going to spend the afternoon pretending to write, but really I'll be flicking through the TV Times and laughing at the terrible plastic surgery my first husband has had done. Silly old fart.

I had the pleasure of speaking to JC on the phone at work the other day. She was absolutely delightful and it was the highlight of my week!

Bowlersarm · 18/05/2014 13:17

Is she writing any more books daddy?

Bit nervous if she does actually, in case she has Rupert and Taggie divorcing, or something else I won't want to hear.

maras2 · 18/05/2014 13:22

I think that I'd like DH to paint my vulva with olive oil < extra virgin nach > Oh shit, hang on ,didn't Taggie's mum Maud walk in on her and Rupert? OMG the thought of my mum seeing that < faints >.

daddyorchipsdaddyorchips · 18/05/2014 13:29

No plans at the moment as far as I know. Shame!

Melonbreath · 18/05/2014 14:04

Right. Everyone demand a new bonkbusting book on this thread, daddy if you would be so kind as to screen shot it and send it to Jilly.

I've just been reading Appassionata, I used to be in an orchestra and actually, a lot if it is scarily true to life!

I fancy a Pimms now and a polo match to watch. Preferably with a stately home party to go to afterwards and the chance of a steamy clinch with Lord Sexonastick before we run off in his helicopter, become the world's greatest steeplechaser and wear shirtwaisters forever.
I don't even know what a shirtwaister is, but I want one.

OverAndAbove · 18/05/2014 17:29

I remember being so excited when her last book came out - I had the date on my calendar and everything. I read she was planning/working on another one about racing, but I imagine she was knocked sideways by the death of her husband not long ago Sad

DartmoorDoughnut · 18/05/2014 17:52

I love JC, have read all of her books and am trying to work out if I can get away with naming our first DC - due August - after one of her characters Grin

500smiles · 18/05/2014 17:57

Oh on one hand I really want another new JC book, but on the other, she has never bettered the divine trilogy of Riders / Rivals / Polo IMO

Tallalime · 18/05/2014 18:04

I am drinking a Pimms right now and moving to the Cotswolds in the summer where I fully expect to attend polo matches and point to points, mingling with terribly sexy young men who are all desperate to bring an older laydee back to life in the bedroom

dementedma · 18/05/2014 18:18

Yes, I want ravishingly beautiful guests in muddy boots to fork up cold salmon in my distressingly untidy kitchen, while their bloody children steal Bolly from my fridge and throw up on the chocolate lab, to screams of laughter all round.

Oh me too, me too. And can I just mention yet again that Jilly Cooper once wrote me a letter?

BalloonSlayer · 18/05/2014 19:23

ooh ooh that was MY thread!

I started it!

Meeeee !!!! Grin

DH got some nettle stings going round the back passage (fnarr!) to the end of the garden today. Did I dip some dock leaves in a romantic pond, anoint his legs then tenderly move my hand upwards in gentle strokes until I reached his . . . ? Well no I didn't actually. I told him there was some anthisan in the medical kit.

Missed a Jilly Moment there . . .

BalloonSlayer · 18/05/2014 19:25

I also did some gardening today.

I:

Smelled something like spring onions and I did wonder if it was wild garlic.

And I trimmed my bush.
