FFS.

I have just explained that no-one is hacking your emails. You are logging in via California because you are using dd1's laptop, it is connecting via a proxy network. She likes watching American TV on demand and it is not available in the UK. You are neither interesting enough, nor important enough for anyone in California to be remotely interested in what you order from Just Eat.

No I will not remove the software from her laptop or my PC.

If you do not understand what I am trying to tell you ask me to explain it again do not swear at me in front of our 6yo, it will get you no-where.

If you want a laptop that connects via a UK server ask me how to turn off the proxy shield or buy your fecking own.

In a similar vein if you do not know what RAM is or how much it costs ask me, do not start ranting and raving about letting dd1 have access to things "she should not understand" Dd1, does in fact know what RAM is, which is why she asked me to buy her sister some.

I could not say this in front of our 6yo because I was concerned that it would cause further swearing.

A rant about DP, I deduce?

Errr...send it to the person who it actually concerns in a text perhaps?

Confused

I think this is a rant at her DH/DP without actually ranting at him due to presence of impressionable 6 yo who may pick up on foul language Grin

Aaaaahhhhhh, my mum does something similar when she doesn't understand a concept. Turns it into an argument to disguise the fact that she is embarrassed.

Just wondering what it has to do with mumsnet or AIBU lol

Twunt has called me urgently into the living room to ask me how to report that his emails are being hacked.

I explained it was him accessing them, because the laptop he is using is set up to connect to the via a proxy server so that it appears to be connecting from California enabling it's rightful owner to watch HBO on demand or whatever. Cue lots of swearing and name calling and accusations of putting his online security at risk and damage to hardware that he would be expected to replace.

All because he felt a bit silly that he made such a fuss in the first place and couldn't quite grasp what I was trying to tell.

I needed to vent somewhere because I was/am fuming that he would chose to swear at me in front of our youngest child, rather than admit that he didn't understand what a proxy server was.

The thing he is not thick, quite the opposite in fact, he could learn about these things if he wanted to, he just choses not to.

He likes to feel superior to me. It irks him that he cannot appear superior about tech, so gets aggressive instead but instead of Googling or talking to me, he tries to appear as though he knows what he is talking about by spouting random crap that only makes sense in his own head.

Apparently which ever Californian's internet he is now using knows that he has ordered Indian for his tea and he is not happy about this Hmm Grin

God knows what he thought "an extra 2GB of RAM" was, from the way he reacted I can only presume he thought it was something you could buy in Anne Summers.

They've told me I can collect the keys on Monday, but they've said every monday since I accepted the house a month ago. There always turns out to be something else they need from me/the landlord/the council.

I have nothing to add, but I suspect I will be laughing to myself over RAM being that which "she should not understand" all day.

I hope you have the likes of ebuyer blocked on her laptop. All that RAM could warp your DD's mind. Grin

I suppose I shouldn't let it bother me. He tries to do it to make me look stupid. If I've done something he doesn't understand that sounds like it might be a bit clever, it must be a dangerous/costly/wrong and I just don't realise it. I couldn't possibly fully understand something that sounds like it might be too technical for him to understand.

I should ignore it knowing that ultimately he only ends up making himself look stupid but it really angers me, there's loads he knows more about than me. Why does he need to be better/more clever than me at everything?

The RAM thing had me baffled too. I did ask him what precisely he thought RAM was but he just wandered off muttering about how they should be playing with dolls not RAM Hmm They wanted it for dd2's laptop so it could run Minecraft without as much lag. They weren't planning on becoming evil scientists or anything Grin
