to think my colleague was thoughtless and ruined my lunch?

Yesterday the canteen at work was closed so two work colleagues volunteered to drive and pick up lunch (we work in an area where it would take 15 minutes to walk to the nearest cafe and only have half an hour lunch.)

It was decided they would go to KFC and McDonalds. I had spent an hour previously complaining that I had got food poisoning last time I went to KFC. So I ordered from McDonalds and said to my colleague, please just get me the American burger of the week.

My colleague returned back with a Louisiana burger which is a chicken burger! When I said I had been complaining about getting food poisoning from KFC that it was common sense that I wouldn't want a chicken burger.

Their excuse was - they had other peoples lunches to get, I hadn't been specific and that they hadn't really listened when I complained about my food poisoning.

If you only have a half hour lunch how do you have all that time to natter about food poisoning?

YAbu. They did as you asked.
But I can see why you wouldn't want to eat chicken just now.

LIZS Sun 11-May-14 06:15:13

if you had so long to moan you had time to google what the burger of the week was and know to ask them not to get one.

yes sue op grin

TheRealMaryMillington Sun 11-May-14 04:13:21

They brought what you specified

You are bonkers

Go get your own lunch next time

Atbeckandcall Sun 11-May-14 02:54:21

Well done OP. I think you're a bit of a star on here actually <<nodsds head with a wise and knowing smirk whilst slowly clapping hands>>

MamaMumra Sun 11-May-14 02:48:04

grin OP.

Biggest turn around ever OP!

You were coming across as a fruitloop there for a while, but have ended this thread as a total legend.

MikeLitoris Sat 10-May-14 18:50:19

I had the louisianna burger today and it was good!

I also quite clearly stated that we got half an hour lunch and it's not flexible unfortunately. So 15 minutes walk there and back with take up the entire half an hour - you also have to add time of potentially queuing, waiting for your food, and then eating it

If you can get away with ranting about food poisoning for an hour during work time I can't believe your lunch is timed to the second.

Bloody hell op,I think that ^ was someone agreeing with you shock

Just nipped down to Mcdonalds after picking DD up from rainbows. The Nevada Grande is lovely (if a tad spicy!)

ProfessorBranestawm Sat 10-May-14 09:08:09

Please tell me you still paid your colleague back for the burger grin

I'm going to macD tomorrow with my DSD and her friends, thanks to OP I won't have to stand there wondering what to order, I have now decided on LouLou...

HappyGirlNow Sat 10-May-14 08:58:58

Haha this thread is absolutely BRILLIANT!

At first I thought you were a tit livelife but you're actually a legend! Thanks for the laughs grin

Op, I can see why you were annoyed actually! You say the food poisoning was just a week or so ago? So still very fresh in your mind. You were obviously hungry and then gutted to receive something you felt that you couldn't eat. However you were of course unreasonable for assuming your colleagues would realise that, but you clearly know that now. I hope you didn't give them a hard time as it was very kind of them to take up their entire lunchbreak to fetch everyone's orders, and from two different places! If you had been nicer about it, perhaps someone would have swapped with you? I don't eat burgers at all, but if someone randomly got me one, I would eat it out of politeness to be honest. Or say I was in need of fresh air and wanted to eat outside, and discreetly file it in the bin lol.

I am sure they won't make that mistake again!!!!

Did you throw it in the bin??

aermingers Sat 10-May-14 02:34:42

Look on the bright side OP. At least it weren't halal.

Alisvolatpropiis Sat 10-May-14 01:35:16

You've taken this all with better humour than most would have op smile

KatieKaye Sat 10-May-14 00:51:16

Sweet dreams without a chicken burger in sight!

livelifememories Sat 10-May-14 00:47:54

*would take up the entire half an hour

Sorry. Obviously time for bed.

Thanks for the good laugh everyone.

It's nice to know without a shadow of a doubt I'm definitely not being unreasonable in the slightest. Maybe I'll post on the legal board tomorrow and see if if theres anyone I can potentially sue.

I'll buy everyone their very own Lou Lou burgers with the compo wink

KatieKaye Sat 10-May-14 00:45:09

Is it very wrong that I'm reading this in bed and desperately fancying a KFC?

livelifememories Sat 10-May-14 00:39:35

Bearbehind I think you're a little behind with the bashing.

wouldn't it have been easier and more productive to walk the 15 minutes to the nearest cafe and get your own fucking lunch

I also quite clearly stated that we got half an hour lunch and it's not flexible unfortunately. So 15 minutes walk there and back with take up the entire half an hour - you also have to add time of potentially queuing, waiting for your food, and then eating it.

Hence why colleague bought lunch for the whole of our department - not just me.

MollyHooper Sat 10-May-14 00:38:49

Now I'm tipsy and NEED KFC OR MCDONALDS

<rolls up lowly kebab and sucks on it>

PowerPants Sat 10-May-14 00:28:57

I like this OP. She has a fine sense of irony and has taken her merciless bashing very well.

Thisvehicleisreversing Sat 10-May-14 00:17:28

Geez, sorry Ronald McDonald

^^ that had me laughing out loud.

Brilliant thread. grin

Bearbehind Sat 10-May-14 00:11:25

Assuming you've been at work today posting all this shite and given you moaned about food poisoning for an hour before this whole drama even commenced- wouldn't it have been easier and more productive to walk the 15 minutes to the nearest cafe and get your own fucking lunch hmm

livelifememories Fri 09-May-14 23:59:28

But did you tell your colleagues about it for a whole hour?

Well it probably wasn't for an hour no, that was just an estimate.

Also in my department there are 7 of us (4 desks, opposite 4 other desks) so it was a joint conversation, not just me droning on for an hour straight.
