I have a lovely glass of wine, but he is running around cleaning.

We are going away tomorrow, nobody will be here till Tuesday.

As long as there is no dirty dishes ( we have a dishwasher) the bins are empty and toilet flushed, who actually deep cleans before holidays.

I do - because the worst thing about coming home is having to clean when all you want to do is chuck stuff in the washing machine and cook your own food again.

Me. I clean before a holiday because I like coming back to a clean house.

It's bad enough having to unpack and do washing without thinking that the house is grubby too.

Are you serious????
I have been asking my DH for over a month to please clear out the baby's room (which is at the moment his office). Baby is due very very soon. The cradle is currently full of his office paperwork. He is currently sitting down with his 3rd beer.
Swap?!?!

What is the point though, I am normally a clean freak.

Finished work at 3, at 3 I was on holiday mode.

"who actually deep cleans before holidays." I do! I want it sparkling on my return. Otherwise I might cry. Sad

I absolutely adore coming home from holiday to a spanking house. It's up there with going to bed with freshly washed and ironed bed sheets after a bath - bliss!
My sister, on the other hand, I can imagine what her house looks like right now (she is currently on holiday). It will look worse than mine and I am still very much here with two messy children!

Perhaps I should offer to help.

I remember reading Kim from off of Kim 'n' Aggie saying that when she goes on holiday she "hoovers herself out of the door" because she can't stand returning to a dirty house. While I wouldn't go that far, I can see her point.

I also love the image of someone "hoovering herself out of the door".

Bet she trips over the hoover when she comes back in, though, in her sunglasses and lugging her heavy cases...

I mop myself to the door and then go out for a few hours so the floors can dry uninterrupted. I love mopping!

I do a deep clean before a holiday.. it's bloody awesome coming home to a clean, ready to use, organised house..

You could have helped.. then it would have been done quicker Grin

There is nothing in the world worse than coming home from holiday to a messy house I know there actually is, don't feeling obliged to point it out

My house is the cleanest it ever is the night before a holiday.

BackforGood · 01/05/2014 23:00

Well I certainly don't. The day before the holiday starts, I'm packing, not cleaning.

I always think "what would the burglars say if it was this messy?" Grin

That's a very good point! I always shut the baby gate on the stairs just in case the burglar doesn't know how to use them too!
