Recipient: Woman, early 30's. Professional, no children.

Giver: 3 young children.

Occasion: Birthday

Gift: Homemade pink lemonade in nice glass bottle. Homemade cookies wrapped with homemade gift tags and a handmade card.

We don't know her very well so I thought this was a way to be generic whilst personal. It wasn't very well received.

The recipient sounds like me and I would love that.

She's very ungrateful, I hope you took it back.

It's my birthday soon, I'll send you my address Wink

Sounds fine to me. Any present "not well received" is probably more than the recipient deserved, imo.

It sounds like a lovely present, but I suppose she could have allergies. No excuse for not being gracious though!

My birthday is February 7th, just so you know.

The giver were 3 young children who helped make the gift?

YANBU - even if she didnt care for the gifts, she sould have tai outlay accepted and thanked the children for their hard work.

Anybody "not receiving presents well" are unworthy of presents, in my book.

I missed it was the children who gave them- that makes her look even worse!

Anyway, what did she say / do? Spill.

I wouldn't be thrilled with that, but I promise you would never guess. There's no need to be rude (if she was) about a gift.

Even if she didn't like it, she should have at least pretended.

Ah... you have made me feel so much better! I wasn't sure if I'd completly misjudged it!

What did she say Shock

I'd quaff the lemonade with some vodka and eat the cookies whilst sobbing over the card.

Ooh... I like the sound of homemade pink lemonade! Recipe please! As others have already said, she was undeserving of the gift.

cookies? hand made cookies?

I might be ushering you out of the door so I could scoff them all myself, maybe she was actually just too greedy to share ? Grin

When children give you a gift, you act thrilled with it.

Anything else makes you a total arse.

So yes, YANBU, the gift was fine.

She, otoh, was not nice. She broke the big rule about how to accept a gift from children!

Who is she? [nebby]

Miren · 01/05/2014 18:01

It got an 'ah' minus a smile and put on the table in another room. I think the kids were disappointed she didn't try the cookies. Maybe I was expecting too much - I suppose she's not very 'into' children

Homemade cards are the best!

And if you want a grateful recipient for future cookies, send them my way.

(Stray thought, is it possible ingrate is a MNetter, has bubbled you are, and assumes Biscuit Biscuit Biscuit ?)

In the absence of the gift of pink lemonade, the least you could do is post the resipe for it. Pretty please and thank you! Grin

I'd love that - so thoughtful & unique. I'd be telling all my friends / family about the lovely homemade gift you'd given me.
