Gurning face of Farage and some xenophobic, dumbed-down message about immigrants. I'm normally quite a calm person but this leaflet has me reaching for the matches. Nazis the lot of them

YaNBU.

What exactly was the message?

Fundamentally I disagree with uncontrolled immigration between countries with drastically different living standards.

Yadnbu! I would do it in front of the person that debased my letter box by posting that offensive mail through it.

Twitter had the return freepost (to you, UKIP pay) address yesterday with eh suggestion that their leaflets are simply mailed back to them. I'll just see if I can find it...

UKIP, Freepost RLSU-HZBG-UBBG Lexdrum House TQ12 6UT

Reddit has the same info here

That's where mine are going Smile

Burn it or send it back; I hate unsolicited party political leaflets especially UKIP's.

Report
MrsBlackthorn · 25/04/2014 11:44

Send it back to the Freepost address attached to a house brick and cost them even more money.

"No-one can justify calling someone a Nazi simply because their views differ on matters of healthcare policy," he says. "When you get these glib comparisons you lose perspective on what made the Nazis and the Holocaust particularly terrible." Mike Godwin.

While he cites healthcare I still find your remark offensive. Life is too short to flag to MN but hey.

I don't object to reasonable debate about immigration.

But I don't believe you can have a reasonable debate with a xenophobic, misogynistic, hypocritical (secretary is not a highly skilled specialist shortage profession after all), party who vote against protecting elephants because they use their vote to automatically vote 'no' whatever the vote is about.

Did anyone read the newspapers online today citing the Twitter views of one of the UKIP party political broadcasters?

He even stated that Ed Miliband is not British because he is 'Polish' and other equally offensive views.
He's now been 'suspended' from UKIP but I wonder how many of UKIPs members and supporters hold those views.
That is why I won't have their leaflets in my house.

They have a pattern of allowing racist/or similarly offensive individuals to be influential in the party and then suspending them when they show their true colours.

Who would want people like that in power?

I think the Nazi comparison is apt and in no way detracts from historical abuses. If this lot get any influence it's only a matter of time before people feel justified in breaking the shop windows of immigrants, hurling abuse at them in the street and insisting they carry identifying documents. Those who forget history are condemned to repeat it.

I did latara, it was shocking.

I actually like getting political leaflets near polling time, because I want to know what the people stand for.

I am actually toying with the idea of a 'no UKIP leaflets' sign on my post box though.

Report
Latara · 25/04/2014 12:07

Either UKIP don't properly vet their MPs / prospective MPs or the party does secretly hold those offensive views too. Which is it??

Report
ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 25/04/2014 12:08

YABU. Attach it to a brick and send it back via their free post address. That will hurt them more.

SteadyEddie · 25/04/2014 12:09

Looking at the people who are standing for election in our area, we also have BNP and EDP members standing, so I would extend my sign to include either of those bunch of racist twats parties

Far from forgetting history - just object to it almost being trivialised. What ever your views on UKIP are to liken them to Nazis is in no way apt.
UKIP wants controlled immigration and the UK to regain self rule lost to Brussels.
I have not seen any reference to Lebensraum, extermination of the Jews or indeed invasion of other countries on the list of policies.
Your reference trivialises the horror of the Nazis and indeed if it was made in any place other to the internet would probably result is slander action.

latara - i am inclined to agree with the second one. The odd candidate might slip though, but every week it seems some UKIP candidate/Counsellor etc are letting their masks slip and spouting bile.

I had one pushed through my door this week, so I pushed it back out, opened the door and asked the man delivering to come back and get it. He did and skulked off.

I loathe the party but if they want to engage people why aren't they knocking and talking instead of wasting money on pointless leaflet drops.

I've had two more through Royal Mail this week too. I shall do the free post option this time I think!

Report
ohforfoxsake · 29/04/2014 19:27

Apparently (according to the internet) you can send up to 4kg of mail to them freepost and it will cost them a fiver.

I have a lot of pizza leaflets gathering dust here....

Both BNP and UKIP have a strong following in the 18 - 25 age range round here, including women.
Colleagues and associates of both my ds openly support these parties.
They believe it is hard to get work and many immigrants have their jobs, apparently.
I suppose it is worrying if this is a trend as these politically ill educated people will no doubt be voting.

I let the dc to draw on his fugly stupid face and then threw it in the bin, wish I'd thought of posting it back - attached to the Yellow Pages.

I completely fishwifed on Sunday, a bnp leaflet was pushed through our letterbox! a fucking bnp leaflet! Our area is really multicultural, how offensive is that? My sweet innocent two year old excitedly brought it to me "post, post".
I was out of the door to hand it back to them like some big old gallumper, charging forth in my Sunday scruffs, brandishing the filthy piece of crap back at them.
I was as polite as you can be to the bnp and I did not swear (though I wanted to) I didn't hold back on my views, the thickos just looked at me slack jawed, I think it was because I was using words of more than one syllable. I don't reckon they'll put anymore through though. Grin

I ripped one up in front of a canvasser yesterday and suggested they not pollute my letterbox with their dim-witted xenophobia.
