to really dislike the tons of makeup look?

I know, I know, each to their own and its a free world, yada yada.

I like makeup and I think it looks great on most people.

But I really dislike the troweled on (Christina Aguilera, Kate Silverton, even Kate Windsor) look that is so popular now.

Saw a woman in Sainsbury's earlier, checking out the cheese strings, and she had huge fecking false eyelashes on and I just nearly laughed.

Anyway, feel free to hit me with the why can't we women just be nice to each other stuff, I don't care tonight.

YANBU

it's ok to have loads on if working as a clown though

SocialNeedier · 23/04/2014 20:13

It's not to my taste; it reminds me of drag.

But I would defend women's right to wear draggy make up to my last breath!

Im not a huge fan either tbh, makes people look quite hard faced.

Mintyy · 23/04/2014 20:15

Yes, course they should have the right to wear it.

I hate hate haye false eyelashes as a day to day look. It is so odd and I cant stop transfixing on te huge spider legs bashing their brows as they blink... Weird

paintedfences · 23/04/2014 20:16

...Kate Windsor doesn't wear tons and tons of makeup though. She looks normal to me.

Mintyy · 23/04/2014 20:16

I think she does.

Yanbu, the funny thing is it makes these people look the exact opposite of attractive. Eyebrows look like they have been drawn on, those oversized eyelashes and clown cheeks Confused

KeepOnKeepingOnAndOnAndOnAndOn · 23/04/2014 20:19

Whos kate Windsor?

MamaLazarou · 23/04/2014 20:20

I don't understand the false eyelashes as daywear thing. What do they wear when they go for a night out? Two pairs?

phalanges · 23/04/2014 20:21

Me too… I hate the trowelled on look, and I particularly dislike those fecking HD brows.

paintedfences · 23/04/2014 20:22

Hm, interesting. I would have thought tons would equal obvious or too smoky eyeliner/eye makeup, false lashes, lots of lipstick and so on? What do you see as too much - just curious!

Looking at some pics her foundation looks a bit heavy (and a shade or two too dark?) I suppose. Though I bet she wears the 'stays on your face until you sandblast it off' stuff due to the paparazzi...

This woman just goes to show less is more! I have never seen someone look sooo bloody good as a result of a make under...

bamboostalks · 23/04/2014 20:24

I think it's more of an northern thing. Women made up to the nines walking round the supermarket. The attempts at the contoured look are appearing with more frequency. Shocker IMO.

overmydeadbody · 23/04/2014 20:29

I feel sorry for the people I see with too much make-up on, as they are obviously insecure about their looks, or over-obsessed with their loks as defining who they are.

StillStayingClassySanDiego · 23/04/2014 20:37

Wear as much as you like but make sure it's blended at the neck < get a sponge>

Good for anyone in false eyelashes doing the shopping, I can never get the fecking things on! Angry

BumpNGrind · 23/04/2014 21:22

I love make up, I love fake eyelashes and I love feeling made up. I try not to pile the make up on and would only wear full make up for certain events, but I have to be honest-if makes me feel good.

My hair on the other hand, I couldn't give a shiny shit about, as long as it's clean and smells nice then I get away with it being brushed and dry.

OsMalleytheCat · 23/04/2014 21:25

If you get false lashes "done" ie in a salon you can't take them off they're meant to stay on for like 2 weeks...

ComposHat · 23/04/2014 21:33

Those thick black slug like eyebrows always make me think of Groucho Marx.

WitchWay · 23/04/2014 21:36

I wear very little make-up most days but usually some if I'm leaving the house. If I'm going out in the evening I wear quite a lot more (but still much less than a lot of people). If I trowelled it on every day, what would I do for going out? I wouldn't look any different!

Woobeedoo · 23/04/2014 21:37

I live near a college and if I make the mistake of going to the shops when the students are on lunch I get snarled up in a gaggle of them.

You can spot all the ones who are doing beauty therapy as not only are they wearing one of those beautician blouse tops, they all have orange faces, massive eye lashes and seem to have drawn their eyebrows on with a lump of coal.

I daresay they could be really good at their beauty treatments, but the OTT way they look puts me off.

KatoPotato · 23/04/2014 21:40

I see more and more thick clumpy semi permanent eyelashes these days. At least strips were a little more subtle but these hulking great jet black lumps shoved on to mostly (in my experience living in Glasgow) absolutely miserable torn faces!

I just think miss piggy...

I love make-up, especially big false eyelashes (I'd wear them every day, but the semi-permanent ones irritate my eyes so I have to stick to the ones you glue on yourself, which I don't have time to do every day). Some people don't look that good with a lot of makeup on, but I do (I look ok without it, but much better with it), so I will carry on trowelling it on :)

Lj8893 · 23/04/2014 21:45

Wow nicki Minaj is actually really pretty!!

RiojaHaze · 23/04/2014 21:48

I wear lots of make up as do most of my friends. What really struck me on the Facebook bare faced selfie craze a while ago was how much younger we all look without it!
