to complain about bounty lady?

So after having dc2, I was moved to post natal. She had low blood sugar and had to be monitored. I threw up quite a bit. In the meantime, the physio lady came to talk to me, then the breastfeeding lady. While she was there, the paediatrician came to check dd. Bf lady asked her if she could wait til she was finished Shock . Peed said no prob but I butted in and lied and said I'm just gonna ff anyway and that I'm not taking any of this in. She left reluctantly and I proceeded to have a bit of a breakdown, sobbing and shaking uncontrollably. Mw decided to move me to my own room and went to arrange this leaving just me, dd and dh.

In strolls bounty lady asking if I want free wipes (29p in savers they are) and gives me the pack. Then 'i just need your details' so I gave them all to her, which is not something I ever ever do! Then starts trying to sell the pics. I asked how much and she replied 'its free to take the pics' Confused . At this point dh said we're not interested and have our own camera. She looked disgusted and said 'oh that's a shame', like we were terrible parents Shock . Are they really letting these vultures loose?

I complained to bounty and their reply just said how everyone's really happy with them and they have a code of conduct to adhere to anyway and that bounty is run by moms Confused So aibu to find these practices appalling?

I think you're going to find a resounding YANBU on this one.

And yes, YANBU

YANBU.

I had a traumatic birth with DS, no one with me when he was born, and I had just turned 19. Bounty lady came round and I felt pressured to buy the photos.

I forgot all about it after I got home (you know, was busy single handedly looking after a newborn and establishing breastfeeding!) and I started getting the threatening letters saying I needed to pay ASAP. I paid, but I've always hated the photos and never shown anyone. They look nothing like DS Confused

Congrats on your baby! When you are feeling up to it complain to your MP and your NHS trust

O to your NHS trust,I am 100% convinced the bounty rep in my hospital went through some clinical reports at the side of my bed when I wasn't there to get my address as somehow they got my details but the bounty rep never asked me for them. I notified my trust of this who responded to me within a week, they also opened a file for any future complaints (I'm the first) and advised all ward staff to keep an eye on bounty staff doing anything they shouldn't. Even if they don't do anything now they may be gathering info to use later

YANBU at all! What a horrible woman, how was she to know that you weren't in a private room due to still birth or postnatal death or something?! Marketing does not belong on the wards. Did you tell your MW about her? I think I'd have called the nurses to get security to be honest.

Congrats on your baby though OP Thanks Cake Brew

I complained to my local hospital after a Bounty representative STOLE my personal details and was essentially told, 'Oh they wouldn't do that, and everyone else finds them really useful and likes them except for you'. Hmm

So YANBU.

I didn't have to pay for anything? I got two pics?

I thought at the time, blame the morphine that she was just a nice lady/nurse from the hospital offering me pics of DD and she was fine but I've never read another nice experience with them. It's strange that they are allowed in such a personal and private place Hmm

YA definitely NBU. I do not have any babies, but my friends have told me about these Bounty people. I am also a doctor and have worked on post-natal wards. I think hospitals in general are places where patients are entitled to the utmost privacy, they are almost sacred places. I think the only visitors who should be allowed on wards are those who are permitted by the patient. These people have no business being in a place where there are vulnerable people. It makes me mad!

Wow so it's not just me! I seriously don't understand how it's allowed. I received another email front-end today asking why I didn't buy any pics Shock the cheek!

I've signed the petition and shared on Facebook but am not appreciatiNguyen the irony of having to give all my personal info to support a campaign complaining about collection of personal info Grin

I thought you meant someone who was giving out coconut chocolate bars until I read the thread. That sounds like a seriously awful practice to be permitting this kind of thing in hospitals.

Gosh, I never got any of this when I was in hospital, although I was expecting it after reading about them here.

Bounty woman comes onto ward, asks who would like a pack. We say yes. She gives us all a pack. She leaves.

May be my hospital is strict?

I was still having post-birth contractions and was in the middle of one when the Bounty woman waltzed in, took some seriously terrible photos of DS and sold them to DH Hmm
I really wish they gave out Bounty Bars as that would be a lot more helpful in dealing with a newborn Grin

YANBU. These people prey on you when you are tired, hormonal and sore. I wish this campaign had been around when I had my babies.

'Luckily' for us, DD had a massive bruise on her head when she was born due to head butting my pelvis for an hour! It gave us a great excuse to get rid of the Bounty Lady. TBH ours wasn't too bad and was discrete. I didn't get lots of requests for photos and although I gave my details I got several useful samples and just told them to bugger off when they starting ringing me. However, I gave my details knowing about them before I went into hospital and knew they would ring me. It's awful when they prey on mums who are clearly in distress or not quite with it.
