AIBU?

to think the hatred for Next is just backlash against the popular and successful?

I don't get it, they stock such a wide range of products and styles how can everyone on here hate them? Whatever you find in other shops, you can generally find in Next too.

It's just bandwagonning isn't it? It's popular so it's cool to say you hate them isn't it?

In my eyes, if I want nice kids clothes Next has it- from cute and girly, to hooker style, to nautical, to traditional, whatever you want they have it!

They have women's stuff in formal, casual, tarty, frumpy, maternity, everything under the sun.

I shop in loads of places, including Next, but all the Next hatred puzzles me.

i suppose because years ago (1980s) it was a pretty cool shop and most of the stuff was really well made and looked good

now it's pretty crappy all round. cheap and unimaginable. shame really.

Bloody phone.. I was saying that I prefer Debenhams and GAP to next. Next is over priced for their stuff which is not as good quality as a lot of other places. But alas.. I still get Next vouchers every birthday:'(

People hate Next? Learn something new everyday. All I ever hear or read about them is OOOOH NEXT SALE.

I like next. Some bits are a bit on the pricy side but always plenty of choice.

I hate them as the things I bought 8 years ago are still going strong and yet stuff I bought 12 months ago is already in the bin as it fell apart.

I struggle to find things I like in woman's

There's the odd bit in there I like and buy, but I wish to God I'd never got involved with buying something on line from them.

I love their online sales. Just got some bargains for DC for the next year all at half price.

So where do you shop that is really interesting Rhonda?

I have no objection to or view of the company, it's what they sell that I dislike.

I wasn't aware that there was any hatred for next! Years ago it used to be quite pricy, then the prices dropped to reasonable high street, now it's crept back up.

Love their kids stuff but they wanted £12 for a babies swimming cossie the other day and there was a much better quality one in M & S for £8. I find M & S for kids is bigger (so lasts longer) and better quality and a lot of it is better value.

Anyway that wasn't really the point of this thread but it irked me the other day so I thought I would add my two pence worth Wink

I buy basics (vests mainly, long sleeved tops, sometimes undies or PJs) from Next and buy some of the kids clothes from there, too. The honest reason I buy from them is because I can buy on credit and it is delivered that next day. Thats it. Its over priced and poor quality, mainly. The womens clothes are largely vile - badly made, frumpy tat.

I love the girls clothes but the boys are boring h & m are miles better for boys.
Women's is OK at times but they also have some bloody awful stuff

Men's awful apart from work clothes

Home wear nice but m & s is better quality

I don't hate next, I love the homewares but I think the problem is using everything from the range. Better just to mix it up.

Also the women's clothing isn't great overall (though I did get a nice top recently)

Love the baby clothes. They wash great.

I have no one place, I do a mix of high street/vintage with a few upper end bits and pieces thrown in when I can afford to.

The house stuff is particularly tedious.

And I can to understand why people will get up at 5am to queue for some shoddily made completely in exciting goods. I do remember 20 years or so ago it seemed to be a good shop, when George thingummy was still involved, but honestly it has no distinguishing features any more.

Is there a hatred campaign. Cor, and there was me thinking they are just too boring for anyone to raise an eyebrow at.

I do hate the sales they have that start at silly o'clock. Not fun for the staff to organise stock and be open so early.

Though saw a nice arm chair that looked cosy in their homewares section last time I was there. Ha - back to boring.....

What hatred?

I object to the Next Directory/credit account stuff if you buy online. An account was opened for me, unasked-for. I then received multiple up requested directories, charged to my "account".

That, I hated.

The clothes, not so much, but I don't tend to shop there anymore after the online shopping debacle.

I love Next. I've never heard such hatred for it anywhere but here. Everything washes well, the jeans are fabulous if you have a less than washboard stomach and their home stuff is really hard wearing. What's not to like?

fashion wise it's comparable to bhs now
