I was ill. I had wed thur and sunday off last week. I had a virus which saw me seeing out of hours doctors on saturday.
I went back to work tuesday ( i work part time) and i really wasnt up to being at work but they were very short staffed. I also went in yesterday but had to leave.
Im not 'ill' anymore. Im just totally exhausted and i think the virus just knocked me for 6. I was so tired yesterday i had to pull over 3 times on my 2 mile drive because i was falling asleep at the wheel.

Im up and awake now and feel ok.... and im not due at work today. But am tomorrow. I wondered if going snd getting a sick note and just checking im ok is worth it. Or am i just using up an appt for someone who is actually ill.

I would stay in bed today and go tomorrow if still tired.

I would see how you fel tonight. The fatigue might return, or you could be ok.
You shouldn't have to inform your employer just now about your return unless they need to cover your hours.
If you need a note to have the extra time off then you have little choice but to see a GP.
Hope you feel better. Rest.

Ok. But you do need to rest a bit if you can so you can get better.

Do the minimum you have to .... Then rest as otherwise yes you are going to need more time off .

You are ill, you are exhausted.
Are "fit notes" still for periods of more than a week? You can self certify up to a week - as you went back to work yesterday, that week is reset from now.

The above kind of is the minimum.
Thats the shit thing. I feel tired again now but need to get up and get in the shower....

I think you can. Its going to flag up at work though apparently. Because i came back for a day and a half then went home its counted as two seperate incidences.

I feel like if i had a note that would make it a bit better intheir eyes, if that makes sense

You might find that a GP won't give you a note, as you can self certify for a week. Maybe try for a telephone appt to explain the situation first?
Hope you feel better soon

Sorry but I think you will find that :(

Unless you are always off sick and on a warning I would relax about being off..its important you look after your health so you can mamage your life as single parent. In a few weeks work will have forgotten you were off.

Ill call them and ask for a phone appt then.

Im never usually ill. I think until now ive had 3 days off sick in 18 months.

I think ill just try to take it easy and go into work tomorrow then. Its my fault for going back when i did still feel rubbish :(

Oh you poor thing. Single mum and being poorly is the worst thing. If you feel rubbish tomorrow you can see GP and get a note then. I suspect you need a good rest

Personally, I'd think a phone call today and getting signed off for longer could do you a favour. You sound knackered. However job security wise you might be wishing to avoid it.

I am knackered. Sat and sun i was taking meds to reduce swelling i had. The virus had attacked a singularbody part... ended up all swollen.my skin changed and was all hot. The emergency doctor did say i might have to see my own doctor. So.. sat and sun i was knocked out from meds .. i dropped them monday, had a day where i wasnt sleeping 3 out of 4 hours. And then did a full days work on tuesday. I didnt feel great at all and the swollen area started to reswell at the end of the day.
T
Had an early night.. 8pm..got up for work and went but had to leave at 1:30 as i was falling asleep at my desk.

Doh advice no sick note for first week can self cert, google guidelines, if you only want a sick note then you don't need an appointment. GP's are really drowning under this kind of thing.

If hardly ever off just take the time you need to get well.

They have seen that you were ill the other day.

It is silly to drag self in tomorrow if still ill.

I went back because a work collegue messaged to tell me my work was backing up and they would be very short if i didnt go in.

Otherwise i would have stayed at home, and probably would have felt better by now

Yes. That was out of order of them.

You have to put self first though. I know it's hard though

If you need to be off just say sorry you were sick and phone was off as you were asleep Wink

I was good and rang my manager to ask them and to tell them i really shouldnt come back but would if they understood i still wasnt well and could leave if i needed to and could work in the office. ( i have a public facing job and i wasnt in a position to talk for long since the swelling area had been my mouth and it was painful to talk)
The manager said thats fine... so i did and managed to stay all day. But couldnt do a whole day yesterday.

Im tired. It feels hard to even lift my limbs type of tired.
But other than that i feel fine.
