They were the only item of (my) clothing I was wearing when I gave birth to ds just over a year ago. They're getting a bit worn out now and usually they'd go in the bin at this point.

It was a fairly traumatic birth, so I've felt kind of weird when wearing them since, but I must have some kind of attachment to them to feel this way. After all, I was IN them when I first met my beautiful ds.

Does anyone else know what I mean??

YNBU

I've kept my tee shirt and wore it second time around even.

It's a band tee shirt and was pretty special anyway.

I'm a sentimental old fool though.

I kept the nightie I wore giving birth to ds1, even though I'd purposely bought a Primark cheapie so I could bin it afterwards.

I wore it again nearly 7 years later when ds2 was born, and 12 months on it's still in a drawer.

I don't think I feel sentimental towards it, but clearly at some level I do.

YANBU - I've just packed my hospital bag with the cheap nightie I wore to give birth last time, (despite buying cheap so it could go straight in the bin!) and have spent the afternoon looking for the blanket and first babygro that the first baby wore so that I can take that too...
Soppy and sentimental!

I didn't keep any of my clothes but my DD came home in her brothers Coming Home Outfit (Winnie the Pooh onesie)

I still have it Smile and I might sometimes still smell it

Can you turn them into a sock monkey? Fairly easy to do and you could give it to DC as a 'this is what I wore when I was in labour with you but when I couldn't wear it anymore I decided to turn it into a plaything' present?

What a lovely idea EverythingsDozy thanks for the suggestion.

Glad I'm not the only soppy one here! I'm known for being a bit of a hoarder. But memories are so important, and things like photos or items help us to remember.

When I was just 6 weeks pregnant, my beloved GM died. She died in a new nighty, just bought for her. I was given it and gave birth in it....When midwife commented what a beautiful nighty, I told her my GM died in it....(Was gasping through awful contraction !) I'm sure she thought I was bonkers but to me it was lovely, some one died then born in it. I still have it and it has such bittersweet memories and I will never get rid if it. It is wrapped in acid free tissue with all my DCs special baby clothes which I get out every now and then just for the memories. So no, you are not BU.
