AIBU?

To be FUCKED OFF with tesco?

Big Shop was due to arrive between six and seven tonight. Seven came and went, as did quarter past, and no word from Tesco, who are supposed to call or text if it's not on time. Half seven I called them, and they told me they'd look into it and call back. They called back to tell me that the driver had just called and had a puncture, and she was running an hour late. Fair enough.

Quater to nine and stil no shopping (takeaway had been ordered), so I called again. Don't know what's happening, they'll get someone to call back. Ten o'clock still no shopping and no call. Called again. Shop systems and phones are down, can't get in touch with delivery driver. Nothing they can do, but don't think we'll get our shopping tonight. Told them to cancel the order, want a full refund, and we'll never shop with them again. So he offered me a £10 voucher. Um no, because I won't be using it.

When were they going to let me know it was going to be so late? When were they going to tell me it wasn't coming at all? How long were we supposed to wait? What if we had somewhere to be? Or were waiting for nappies or formula?

Just got an email confirming our £10 voucher due to our dissatisfaction.

I am fuming.

I know you are fuming, but perhaps there wasn't any other vans.

I have been broken down with a newborn and top lev cover and it took a 3 hours for a break down truck to come.

I know it is disappointing especially if you need dinner/ breakfast items.

What else could tesco do

These things happen. Vans are fallible, processes fail, communication goes tits up.

Yup, it's a pain but no one died, you don't sound like you needed formula or nappies.

Have a drink, chomp your take away & put it down to a bad day for all

Online food shopping is great until it gets messed up.

Tesco are as good a chocolate teapot, I did a click and collect, the 2 bags of frozen food they gave me was someone else's, when I called to tell them they wanted me to keep the food until tomorrow and they would collect it when they dropped off my plc orrery order.

I was really concerned that they would re use this food, I though there was all sorts of guideline about freezer temps and needed to record temps, made me think about where my real order had been

But it's not hard is it....ok can breaks down, driver calls HQ to advise, HQ contact customers who are affected. Even if that process has to happen 2,3,4 times until the delay is either sorted or escalated.

Hate this kind of customer service.

Sorry OP. I hope your takeaway was good at least.

I think you are being too hard on them. Crap happens. Life doesn't always run smoothly.

It was one bad experience. I rarely shop at Tesco, but if I did, what happened to you tonight wouldn't stop me using them again.

no-one did it on purpose, chill out. And really your cupboards were bare? not their fault.

I'm not surprised, Tesco do have this effect on people.Unfortunately, uncaring, incompetent, often arrogant are all par for the course at Tesco.
I stopped using them 6 months ago and am much happier shopping at Aldi where fruit & veg is about half the price and the prices dont creep up on an almost weekly basis.

Our ocado driver pulled up outside just as a mini crashed and rolled into the side of it, taking out one of the wheels (completely, not just tyre). I was watching from the front door. The driver was missed by centimetres!

Driver came in for restorative cup of tea while the police/ambulance dealt with the aftermath (mini driver miraculously OK, thankfully 3 of our neighbours are nurses, including 2 a&e nurses). The driver Rang the next few stops on his mobile to let them know would be late.

Within 45 mins a second ocado van arrived, and the driver unloaded our shopping from the van and transferred all the other shopping from the van into the new one, and off they went, leaving the broken van until a pick up truck arrived about an hour later.

To say I was impressed was an understatement.

I've never on-lined my groceries. Put off by a friend who is probably still eating the extra 3 tonnes of broccoli she inadvertently ordered.
However bad your day is, the van driver's is probably worse.

fergus exactly. If they'd called & explained it would have been fine. If they'd called back and let me know it was still delayed it would have been fine. It's the lack of communication that's annoyed me, along with the fact it's been a long week and I was hungry, tired and fed up.

I am now fed, have a Wine and am a bit calmer. But Sad I have to go do a proper shop tomorrow now.

Reality check. It's an online shop. Things like punctures happen. And tesco are scum anyway. If you decide not to shop there ever again, at least decide because they single handedly killed the high street, not because they got a puncture.

MrsKranky Glad it is all OK and calm is restored.

Sorry I was a bit like Tesco and turned up too late to be of any use whatsoever.

NK493efc93X1277dd3d6d4 do you mind if I just call you NO for short? Or is that the Tesco order number?

Tesco is scum. Truly awful service. I am never shopping with them again.

Try Ocado. They are not more expensive, but better quality, better service, and reliable.

I've been doing tesco.com for at least five years now. Two problems in that time, one order didn't arrive and after I called them they said there was a problem with the payment (which there shouldn't have been and even if there was you would have thought they would call not just not arrive) and the other problem was mass overdelivery of chicken and chickens which we weren't charged for (free chicken anyone???).... But to be fair two problems in many years isn't too bad, and I don't have to drag three kids round the supermarket on a regular basis....

When I clicked this link I was going to say YANBU....but I thought it was going to be about them advertising 4 pints of milk for £1. I feel for the farmers. Tesco are unreasonable in more than one sense of the word in my opinion. Gurhhhhh.

I once saw one of the big Tesco lorries go off the road and end up laying on it's side in a ditch. The slogan on the side of the lorry was 'you shop we drop'. They got that right. Grin

Gerrymandering anyone?

This is just one reason I will never spend a penny of my hard earned money in that shop - I have never shopped in Tesco since the 80's - nasty lot!

Tesco are shit. Their products are rubbish, especially the meat.

On the odd occasion I shop online, I use Sainsbury's. Never had a problem in 4 years that wasn't dealt with really well by customer service, including a broken laptop (just in guarantee) that was replaced with new with no quibble at all.

Why is this not a problem just because someone else might have a bigger problem? It's still bloody annoying and there will always be someone with a bigger problem.

I mean, why even bother commenting if you have such huge problems? Surely you'd be too busy dealing with these things to comment?
