AIBU?

[thanks] ( sensitive) should MN change the wording to flowers

I may be the only one that thinks that the wording is wrong.

If someone post about abuse, miscarriage r baby loss and you do this Thanks there is nothing to say thanks for.

Of course if you get good advice it appropriate but on sensitive issues I really don't think it's appropriate to say thanks.

I thought you could get it from Flowers already?

Yes you can I wrote [ flowers ] above not [ thanks ]

Didn't realise.

I'm always MN on my phone, and the list below only says thanks

Weren't the flowers because of woolly hugs and saying thank you to someone?

I know what you mean though, it's like liking a negative fb status as a show of support.

It's easy to change the meaning in your head though.

Perhaps it is just my issue.

And the context of your post should show that you don't mean thanks.

Envy is usually used to mean something barftastic rather than envy.

It's the same as my smiley list, it doesn't list the Bear either.

I've been insidiously petitioning for [vom] for yeeeeears

If you have Wine you have to have a [vom] emoticon, it's odd not to.

If only you were Queen of MN cafecito.

Indeed,

It hasn't been a sustained campaign, but has been ongoing since its inception, with variable flounce in the mid campaign lull, a good 6+ years I'd say

[vom]

I would not want a moving depiction; nor a pile of residual vom... merely a face depicting the oft required [bleerrhhh], like the little green dude, but with [vom] coded (and maybe bashfulness or wine stainage)

As many women in fact physiologically vom in labour and birth, and babies incessantly do this too, has mumsnet moved on from mums? etc
are we no longer the target demographic?

Indeed I m not certain vom could be overtly more offensive than other items - and look

I'm not quite sure what you're on talking about cafe, but I'm sure you're right Grin

I'm pretty squeamish but not about being sick or seeing someone chucking up, lots of people are though, maybe that's why HQ hasn't prised your Very Good Idea out of your hands and run with it cafe?

Some people don't even like seeing it written down, and lots don't like the word vom or barf.

I like, but never use, the word chunder, I put it on par with my affection for muppet, numpty and shreddies (for kegs).

Actually you can type flowers Flowers in [] and get the same icon.

I like giving new mum's and babies [ flowers ] and a teddy [ bear ] Flowers and Bear

I type thanks as didn't know I could get the bouquet through typing flowers.

Actually that definitely didn't used to be true -- if you typed flowers, you'd just get the word flowers in brackets.

But isn't it obvious from context that when someone puts a bouquet up they are being nice, but not necessarily saying thank you? I think what's happening is that posters on here also want to show sympathy, encouragement, friendliness, sorrow, celebration, understanding, etc., so they offer the flowers. Just as we use bouquets in real life in fact!

What I would like is if we had more choices of bouquet. I would like to be discerning. Daffodils for you. Pansies for you. Stinkweed for you Grin
