AIBU?

AIBU to be slightly annoyed by towel folding

Or lack of, I showed dh how I personally fold our towels so they look neat and fit on our smallish bathroom shelf. He asked how I did it, I showed and we folded the rest together. I already sound a twat

Anyway, I go into the bathroom to find the newly laundered towels stuffed on the shelf in various shapes and sizes, yes it just towels and yes I'm a neat freak but ffs don't put them in the bathroom if you can't be arsed to fold them!

I'm not grateful he attempted to help, he just couldn't be fucked to put them away properly. I have issues don't I?! Grin

It's the same with loading the dishwasher..I swear he does these things for shits and giggles. We need two houses with an internal door!

You have issues. The towels were put on the shelf, the dishes were in the dishwasher. The precise way this is done doesn't matter

Oh god. I feel exactly the same... I think he actually wants to wind me up. I get sooo cross!

Yanbu. Halfs, then thirds then halfs and put on shelf with other equal sized towels with the rounded bit facing out.

Simple.

Those who don't understand are fools.

I do the same with socks.

When I put the washing away, I pair them up by folding the tops together. DH just cannot grasp how to do this so just chucks them in the drawers....then moans that he can't find matching pairs.

Oh dear! Isn't folding just, well, folding in half then in half again? I fold mine so they fit in the airing cupboard but I didn't know there was a science to it.

I do split bath towels from hand towels but they all face different ways and there's no colour co-ordination! Shock
Am I terribly slovenly then?

YANBU.

We have three sizes (bath/hand/flannel) in a handful of coordinating colours. Each type has their own shelf in our bathroom unit. The towels each have their own optimum folding process to ensure the size is right. For example, my bath towels need to fold into four horizontally then four vertically, while the hand towels are four horizontally but only three vertically. In addition, towels must be placed so there are no raw edges facing outwards. They must be piled so that no two of the same colour are next to each other. Flannels are folded in half, then rolled and piled (raw edges to the rear) in a pyramid, again with the colours positioned evenly throughout the pile.

Do you feel vindicated, OP?

nancy try it. Your airing cupboard will look so lovely!

I now also put the freshly laundered sheets inside the pillowcases to keep the sets together and it looks so neat.

No Nancy I doubt you are! I fold mine in half, half again the in three with the non folded edge facing out, all same sized, looks neat and fits on our piss tiny shelf (no cupboard space to put them instead)

I'm my world details matter!

OP YAB a teeny bit U. I know you want your house to look nice, but swap the genders round:

'DH wants me to fold the towels in his specific way, he even gave me lessons in how he wants me to do it'

MN replies:

LTB

Call Womens Aid

If the controlling anal bastard wants the towels folded a specific way, he can do them his fucking self

etc etc etc

Hello Monica Gellar.

:-)

I like towels folded a certain way as well, they're meant to not have the edges exposed.

Not sure my airing cupboard will ever look lovely. It's always jammed to the rafters with towels, bedding and clothes for 6!

My husband likes the towels put in the cupboard a certain way, he hates the way I do it. So I just dump them outside the cupboard door for him to put away as he likes. I did it on Sat, they are still waiting to be put away!

Sorry but I think YABU. If you really want the towels folded in a specific way then I think you will just have to do it yourself.

I refold the towels if dh has done them. I tried explaining how but he just doesn't get it. To be fair, he does generally pull his weight around the house so I've just accepted that if I want them folded a certain way, it's my issue, not his. (& mine aren't even on display, they sit in a box in a cupboard behind a closed door)

Someone once showed me the Anthea Turner Towel Folding Method! (thirds length wise then thirds again.) We were both being scornful and a bit sneery about it,but when I got home I tried it and now can't fold them any other way......Blush

DH and I each have jobs around the house that simply must be done our way otherwise they're wrong.

Unfortunately I'm 7 months pregnant so can't kneel to fill DS's drawers/fold the nappies into their cupboard etc.

Fortunately he understands that if he doesn't do things my the right way I will go around putting plates in the dishwasher badly and leaving cables for various gadgets plugged in wherever they were last used rather than in their homes.

It's only taken 11 years... Wink

DH Does this with my vests. I am grateful he's ironed them but He insists on folding them the wrong way. It wouldn't matter but They don't fit in the drawer like that. He's asked and been shown multiple times but It goes in one ear and out the other.

What really drives me nuts is leaving piles of clothes all over the bed but Not mentioning any need putting away. So when I drag my weary bum to bed i have to put a shedload of clothes away, opening and closing drawers as quietly as possible so as not to wake DS, before i can get it.
U i know but It drives me nuts.
