AIBU?

If you could pay someone to carry & deliver your children for you, would you?

I read an article with Oona King's surrogate today where she stated that Oona told her that 'she felt lucky as she didn't have to be the one to push it out'.

I'm childfree, but have read on here what childbirth and pregnancy does to your body, even when it goes well-- and the long lasting effects of when it goes wrong.

I think the only biological benefit for women is a reduced risk of cancer from breastfeeding?

So if you could still have your children but not have had to carry & deliver them yourself, would you? And as we've already suspended disbelief once, let's say you could feed them breast milk as well.

Oona King has had years of fertility issues, you make it soundlike she just couldn't be bothered to give birth.

No way. I enjoyed pregnancy and had two very long, difficult labours but I wouldn't change that.

No, not at all. I enjoyed being pregnant and although childbirth is agony beyond compare painful it can also be rewarding and awesome.

No. Not if I had the option to carry them myself.

No. I had shitty pregnancies but they were important to me - not to say I'd love my children any less if someone had carried them for me, but it was all part of the process. I'd never willing choose to skip it.

Oh no I loved being pregnant, I even missed my 'bumps' after they were born. Of course there are downsides (heartburn/piles etc) and the birth (first time was bad, second was better!), but I loved feeling them moving about, little feet sticking out, when they got hiccups, all of it.

I quite enjoyed being pregnant and giving birth though painful was an experience I actually quite enjoyed, holding her just as she was born knowing I grew and birthed her was for me an amazing exeperience. I also suffered no long lasting issues from pregnancy or birth.

I would, but that's because I've had two miscarriages, and it scares me that maybe something doesn't work right - I suspect if I ever get pregnant again I'll be worried every day about whether I'd miscarry again.

I had easy pregnancies and labours, but with that in mind...
I loved having 9 months of getting to know the person growing inside me before I saw my baby's face. It was fantastic, both times.

after the second Hyperemesis Gravidarum preg ... YES.

and I'm not even the worst in the HG stakes by some way ... But when this one is out, I'm going to get to the docs asap and ask about sterilization.

No way. The feeling of your baby moving in your stomach, even jabbing you in the ribs/pelvic is special. Giving birth - yes it hurt but that all is part of my experience of becoming a mother.

No I wouldn't, some of my most amazing memories are of feeling my children move inside of me.

Where do I sign up?

If I didn't have to be pregnant or deal with babies under one, I would have many, many children.

I dislike everything about pregnancy (aside from the baby).

Yes!

But only if there was a way round the moral issue of another woman suffering to carry your baby. Like some super breed of super breeders...

I would have a third if my dh could do the pregnancy and bfing. Especially night feeding. I would manage the birth myself, as long as there were no after effects . (Unrecognizable fanjo, piles etc.)

I'm glad I did pregnancy once but to he honest I didn't really enjoy it. It is one of the reasons why I probably won't have another child. Birth was pretty traumatic and I really don't want to do that again. I think if i didnt have to go through that then it might increase the chance of me having another child. Though probably not enough to make me go through the 1st years of sleep deprivation... Maybe if I could just be handed an adorable 18 month old...

I had an easy pregnancy but a horrific labour. I'm glad that I experienced it but if I was to have another I would be more than happy to have a surrogate.
