My Aunt wants to organise a cake for my parents with one of those "iced photo" on top.

But it would be a picture of my lovely parents on their wedding day ....being sliced in half ...then quarter ,,and so !!

2 gold rings on white icing is enough isn't it !!!

got a thing about ripping up/throwing out old photos

What?

My son's first birthday cake was an iced photo one. It was delicious and beautiful.

What's wrong with cutting up the picture if it's icing? It's not the actual photo that will be getting eaten, though that would be funnier to watch the guests eating grin

It will be fine.

Don't be silly

Alisvolatpropiis Tue 14-Jan-14 23:06:35

Well, it won't be the actual photo, it'll be transfer. Actual photo will be safe and well OP grin

Thanks for the replies.
Yes I know I might seem a bit silly but 2 and 1/2 years ago dad was very ill and we did not know if we would even see this day.

To cut through a picture of them seems like ...well I don't know ...tempting fate ?

(BTW sorry thought I was in chat !!!)

Juno77 Tue 14-Jan-14 23:19:55

Still weird. It's just a picture.

I am as superstitious as you get and even I would be fine with this.

Berryglitter Tue 14-Jan-14 23:22:53

It's sugar, on a cake, you eat it. Unless I screwed up and have cursed my child by eating his birthday cake?

IglooisnowinSheffield Tue 14-Jan-14 23:28:29

I always feel funny about eating the caterpillars on the kids cakes in case they wriggle on the way down. Oh wait, no I don't it's just sugar grin

My parents' cake at their 50th anniversary party had their wedding photo on. It looked ( and tasted!) lovely.

Would be odd for me too

bizzey Tue 14-Jan-14 23:40:53

Thank you Anotherworld

Bootycall Tue 14-Jan-14 23:42:17

no agree its odd and I wouldn't like it either. totally superstitious me.

Shnickyshnackers Tue 14-Jan-14 23:45:23

Yes, just have gold rings on the cake and a lovely photo of them both on a stand behind the cake.

I have actually thought this before, you have a picture on a cake, then you stick and bloody great knife through their faces and across their heads, chop off ears and generally just slice them up off to find picture of MIL wink

HollaAtMeBaby Wed 15-Jan-14 00:16:10

I wouldn't like this either! Can you get the photo printed on a separate sheet of icing, stick it on top of the cake and peel it off before you cut?
