Dh gave me lovely earrings for Christmas, problem is he already bought the same for my birthday and you can't return earrings.

So I thought my mother would love them but dh has said it would be rude if I gave them to her as he bought them specifically for me.

Needless to say my Mum is getting them and dh was told to grow up but do you think I have been unreasonable here?

In no way UR, what's his solution, you get extra piercings so you can wear two pairs of the same earrings at the same time?! But then I am giving my Christmas present from my Mother-in-Law to myMother for her birthday, and that would have been returnable. Big fan of re-gifting, which isn't for everyone!

He was unreasonable for buying you the same pair of earrings twice. Does he think you have two sets of ears?

No, not at all. Although the same happened to a member of my family recently and they took them back to the shop along with her original pair. Once explaining and showing that she was telling the truth the allowed her to exchange for something else. Might be worth trying.
