To ask what things you do, that you think are completely normal, that have caused others to be shocked/disgusted?

Sat in the staff room tucking into a kiwi, like you do, or rather like I do...chomping it like an apple. Everyone was horrified! Apparently you eat it with a spoon like a boiled egg... I can see why, the skin is minging but I alwaŷs thought it was worth it for the delicious flesh. My family all eat it that way, never occurred to me there was anything odd about, I thought it was just the way it had to be done.

I'm really paranoid now there are other things I'm doing that are weird and disgusting. Please post your own experiences so I can tick them off the list.

When I get a book I'll read the first couple of chapters and then read the last few pages. It's the only way I can relax enough to enjoy a book.

Apparently that is deeply weird.

I'm with everyone else on the kiwi thing!

Setphasers yep that is weird!!! If reading is that much of a nerve jangler for you perhaps you should try something else wink

And yes I eat a kiwi fruit like a boiled egg (or peel it first) but you know what Chatterly I bet you get a whole lot more Vitamin C than the rest of us! grin

I change DS on the dining room table as it's the perfect height. I wipe the table with anti-bac after and just fell into the habit as it hurt my back doing it anywhere else...

A friend noticed one day and looked like I'd farted in her face grin blush

I eat a massive teaspoonful of malt and cod liver oil at work every day and everyone runs for cover! It's bloody delicious.

MincedMuff Fri 10-Jan-14 07:49:03

My son eats kiwi like you blugh how do you deal with the fur in your mouth?

I love things like beetroot and piccalilli with cheese. Oh and I eat gerkins out the jar Mmm. Apparently this is weird to my friends but I don't care I love them.

Wishfulmakeupping Fri 10-Jan-14 07:50:12

Deckmyballs Fri 10-Jan-14 07:51:48

Rollermum Fri 10-Jan-14 07:55:50

I have been meaning to ask MN about the kiwi thing! My DH and MIL do this. I just can't imagine being able to choke down the skin.

My DH things I'm disgusting for reading on the loo. But obviously I read, then was hands then exit with reading matter!

CadleCrap Fri 10-Jan-14 07:59:04

mrscynica Oooo I love malt. The dose is one teaspoon but we used to beg Mum for more so in the end we each had a dessert spoon!

TooTryHard Fri 10-Jan-14 08:01:19

Cbeebie - my friend did that too. On MY dining table. And no, she didn't clean it down. And it was a poo.

And on a cafe table.

Slightly different from what you do I'll grant you.

sashh Fri 10-Jan-14 08:02:18

I used to house share with an Indian girl - she ate mango skin and all, as she said you don't think it's odd in chutney.

HappilyChatterly Fri 10-Jan-14 08:06:40

These are great thanks. I usually try and eat the skin off first (I eat the crusts off a sarny first too) then the flesh is the delicious treat for going through that fury ordeal.

DoItTooJulia Fri 10-Jan-14 08:06:52

That's how I would eat a kiwi too! Roughage and all!

Kiwi skin is disgusting!

I dip my buttery toast into my hot tea before eating it.

I get funny looks.

Dd eats kiwis like that too. I do the book thing ad well. I have never learnt the art of delayed gratification grin
Can't think of anything that I do that disgust others but there is probably loads

maras2 Fri 10-Jan-14 08:11:23

Only one place for kiwi fruit ........ the bin. They're the Devil's testicles.

IneedAsockamnesty Fri 10-Jan-14 08:12:52

I eat lemons like you would an orange

MincedMuff Fri 10-Jan-14 08:16:00

Oh I read and MN on the loo to. Didn't even realise that was minging.

And I do the tissue thing if I have to.

I keep my tea bag in my cup. Apparently that's weird but I like strong tea.

meganorks Fri 10-Jan-14 08:18:03

I never cut my sandwiches. I have them whole and eat all the crust first so leave the middle bit. Picked this up from DP.

WitchWay Fri 10-Jan-14 08:23:03

I don't skip to the end of a book but I do flick through the next few pages to see what's coming if I'm a bit anxious about what I'm reading, then go back & fill in the gaps smile

I keep everything in my bra.

Tissues, lip salve, my phone if I need my hands free. The other day when I went to get wood I had my tape measure in my bra.

I have a handbag too grin but it's just easier in my bra.

Lamu Fri 10-Jan-14 08:29:47

I have eaten kiwi & mango skins in the past.

I'll never understand reading whilst sitting on the toilet. Bleurgh. Dp does this with my iPad, drives me nuts. I have to give it a once over with some antibac every few days just to make sure.

PiratesLifeForMe Fri 10-Jan-14 08:30:04

My names Pirates and I'm a furry kiwi skin eater!

schokolade Fri 10-Jan-14 08:30:22

I would like to add that it's weird to call it a "kiwi" smile. I'm from NZ, and a kiwi is either the bird or a person from NZ. The fruit is "kiwifruit". Got a bit of a shock the first time I read about someone asking where they could buy cheap kiwis on Mumsnet grin

Not sure what I do that could be weird. DH eats bacon straight from the packet though. And raw mince mixed with raw egg. He's Swiss and declares that I'm weird for not liking "the best sort of food".
