AIBU?

putting a baby in the oven??

someone on my local fb selling group has listed a meat roasting dish, pictured in her oven with her BABY laid in it. Obviously the oven is not on! but the baby is a bit twisted to fit and does not look best pleased! Lots of people have called her on this saying it is inappropriate and reported to admin but she says it was just done to show the size of the tin (well unless you actually know the size of the baby, it doesn't really help!)

So just after yr opinion please MNers - is this flippin odd thing to do or perfectly OK??

strange...is she eccentric?

In incredibly poor taste, can't really get my head round anyone who might think this was funny.

Strange woman think the pic should be reported!!

Most odd!

I don't know her lollipop, but I guess she is either eccentric or the type who's deliberately out to shock. Just seems sick to me, genuinely repulsed by the thought of it! As if your PFB is the first thing you'd think of to show the size of anything!

Every time I think I can't read anything more bizarre on this site it happens!

Did she not have a ruler?

Why did the tin have to be in the oven?

Bonkers!

Very odd! That said I have seen pictures of a baby in a slow cooker on FB. I thought that was a bit odd too!

Thank god she wasn't selling her microwave.

exactly Impatientwino, its the fact that not only did she think using the baby was a good idea to gauge the size, but also it needed to be seen in situ in the oven! When in fact showing the empty tin in the oven would give an idea of how big it is and anyone interested/worried about it fitting their own oven could make enquiries about the size.

I really don't get how some people think!

I have a photo of DS sitting in huge cooking pot, but it was no where near an oven.. How very odd. poor baby Sad

I'd report too.

Reported for what? It's odd and not funny, she probably thinks she's hilarious though, but not abusive or neglectful.

That's bizarre. I can only imagine she has a bit of an odd sense of humour and thought it was funny.

I'd be worried about sticky food residue or chemicals from oven cleaner or potential gas hanging around. Although the image of a baby in an oven is horrible enough on its own to put me off even considering it!

(just for clarification he was nearly 1 and got into the pot on his own accord)

But yes, it's not inherently dangerous. Just unpalatable (if you excuse the pun)

Sickening. Just the sight of it would make my heart pound.

Not exactly sensitive to those who have been/children have been in a fire either Hmm

Sw wouldn't take kindly to pics of a baby in an oven!!

Report
ReluctantBeing · 05/01/2014 14:01

I wouldn't want to use it for food after a baby has been sitting in it.

Report
phantomnamechanger · 05/01/2014 14:02

candy, several people immediately said it was offensive and upsetting, and reported it to admin as being inappropriate. No one has said its abusive or that there is any concern over the baby's welfare.

maybe she did it to see if she would make MN? I have no idea!

LST yours is rather different, we all know toddlers climb into odd places, mine would empty the toy box and curl up asleep in it!

No, I know no one said it was abusive but apart from being a poor taste, crummy joke, I don't see what makes it reportable? I accept that it's only my opinion though.

ah, it's gone now - don't know whether she removed it herself due to negative feedback or whether the mods. removed it because they agreed with it being in poor taste.

crazy crazy world!
