they are all a bit wrinkly, it's true. I think I read that one of the characters is Pauline Quirk's actual son. I know both their sons have been on stage with them too.

YANBU. I've been looking forward to it for days. I'm about ages with Pauline Quirke and I loved the things she was in as an adolescent - anyone remember Pauline's Quirkes? I think she's just about my favourite actress, and Birds of a Feather my favourite ever sitcom by a long way. Roll on this evening!

It's being shown on ITV. The BBC wouldn't touch it, apparently, even though they ran the show for years.

I read that the cast really wanted a new series for financial reasons and that the script sat in the BBC waiting to be picked up for some time.

That should at least set your expectations!

That's not true finance. The BBC wanted it, but they proposed a Christmas special, whereas ITV offered a full series.
