seriously, people dressing up their babies as elves and santas and hideous christmas jumpers that are going to be worn once or twice then binned? What a waste of 'stuff'.

I really don't get the Christmas jumper thing at all. I remember in the 70s that sort of crap was the kind of thing your elderly granny would give you and people would laugh and you'd never ever wear it unless you were visiting your granny.

If it is done 'ironically' then it is a load of wank imo.

Thankyou. I shall gouge out my eyes so I no longer have to look upon appalling jumpers with smug hipsters in them.

I wore a dollar Santa hat to the beach yesterday and exchanged a few smiles with passers by. Which was the point tbf.

I put my two youngest in Christmas pudding jumpers they used them throughout nov/dec and will do so for the next couple of months one has been used already for both littlies this year and last and next year the other one will also be a hand me down and I don't much care what anybody else thinks becase they only cost me about £2 in a sale.

Because a lot of shops and offices are too mean to buy tinsel and put up any decorations. People have decided (been forced) to become the decorations.

ASDA I'm looking at You!

And of course Christmas jumpers are perfect for pictures. Everyone except me has Christmas t shirts and as DH has two (my DF gave him a new one) I can borrow and that's December for the photo calendar sorted.

You went to the beach. Your Santa hat is acceptable to me.

How can you not understand it? Confused

People have fun dressing up, so they do it- to create the fun. Not difficult. not obligatory to take part.

Babies dressed as cute pixies?!

Youre Thank you. I've just realized why I find it so cringey. Forced fun. Watching people sitting in costa looking glum with ridiculous jumper on or baby santas crying in church on Christmas day. It's incongruent and weird. And the waste it creates. I can just imagine landfill sites brimming over with discarded Christmas jumpers.

Lol, I would offend many of my friends if i aired this publicly, But i agree with you.

Although, My baby does have what i think is a christmassy jumper. It's not an obvious one with snowflakes or anything, It just looks christmassy to me. But i didn't buy it and it will be used until it doesn't fit him anymore as i am a function over fashion type - My two year old often wears a onesie under his clothes at the moment as i am struggling to get trousers to fit him (He is an odd shape/height) and mostof his are thin for this weather. I don't mind if people think im a total scruff. He's warm so thats what counts.

Periodfeaturesagree completely. Christmas jumpers are horrible, not funny not clever not even in a post-modern ironic way. I simply don't understand why anyone would want to wear ugly clothes (and that includes onesies)

PeriodFeatures · 27/12/2013 01:28

I think a Onesie for an under 4 is probably fine Catlin for an adult it's disturbing IMO.

Adults in onesies make me want to scrape my eyeballs clean. With bleach. Urgh.

I agree with you there Dizzy. Last time I wore a "onesie" it was called an 'all in one' and I wasn't long out of nappies.

onesies for babies are babgros surely? Fine if you are a baby. Actually I've never seen an adult wearing a onesie so possibly it's apocryphal.
