Age limit on hair bows?

Is there an age where they cease to be acceptable? (or normal .....?)

Also hair flowers!

Nope, I socialise in the rockabilly scene and it's weird to see people without a hair flower, how or bandana.

I'm 30 and I have a couple of those fabric bow clip things I've had made. I buy them for my DDs so ordered a couple of them for myself whilst I was at it.

About 8 years old I'd say.

I've never got around to wearing one out, but I think hair flowers always look lovely, no matter the age, and I can't imagine bows are any different - unless obviously toddler mini-mouse clips or something.

Oops.

Sorry - no offence intended!

16?

MoreThanChristmasCrackers Mon 16-Dec-13 21:54:45

about 18, depending on fashion at the time. Of course if its fancy dress then any age.

I have -

and

and was tended to wear them with my hair half up clipped over the hair tie (if that makes any sense at all!) and suddenly thought that people might think it was weird as I am in my late 20s.

You'll look fine. I have cute crochet bows that I got from John Lewis kids. Big flowers and small flowers. Sparkly clips and loads of other things I am 31.

I wear them - head bands and big flowers etc. and I'm 25. I think it looks nice as I have lots of long curly hair and they sort of get hidden rather than being super obvious.

I'd like something like this for when I get married next summer.

I quite like the look with hair ribbons but I don't want people to assume that I think I am some sort of Disney princess! I do tend to edge towards the cute side mostly though.

What age is too old for bunches? I love my six year olds hair in bunches and will be sad when shes too old for this.

I wear bows, flowers, hairbands all the time. I'm 25.

When you stop looking at good as Blair Waldorf.

That could be 9, that could be 99. Sadly I've never suited head-based accessories.

used to work with a lady, who still to this day at the age of 50 / 55, wears tailored hair bows.. i. e. tennis racquets in June, broomsticks in October, daffodils ls in March etc. We all thiught she was a little insane to be honest. Looked too cutesy little girly. However, with hindesight, I guess she could be ironic & uber cool? Undecided.

I like them and think it depends how you wear them, worn with a bit of retro glam they can look very grown up and stylish

I know a woman in her mid 60s who wears her hair in bunches with ribbons, and she looks completely ridiculous.

After primary school I'd say, just stick with plain scrunchies from then on. People who don't end up looking as if they truly don't know how old they actually are!

i wear hair flowers and bows...more so flowers though, if you get the style right - not a problem! I'm 27. I sometimes share with my just turned 3 year old confused

It's a standing joke in our family that my mam (born in the 40s) had her large hair bow surgically removed when she was 21. Before that age, even when she left home at 18 and went to college, in every single picture we have ever seen of her, she has a huge bow clonked on top of her head confused and looks a right tatie Apparently it was "the fashion" in the 40s, 50s, and 60s...

my 42 year old sister still wears bunches and looks ridiculous -but she is the sort of person you just can't tell

I wish I had her confidence sad

My 9 year old and a few of her mates have pigtails (bunches) still...they're all happy with them. My mate wears a flower in her hair aged 41 and its' not a good look. Once the flush of youth has left, all it does is accentuate it!

Flowers are perfect...leading to natural comparisons to your imperfect face!

DD2(12) can, DD1(15) can't get away with bows.

Once at university DD1 will be able to again. Students don't have to look grown up.

My 17 year old Dd1 wears bloody hair bows ALL the time I hate them but then I always have. She even has "non girly" ones ie black with skulls, zombie fabric etc, I still hate them

I work with a woman from Trinidad, shes probably in her mid to late 20s. She is a big woman, not fat or anything but really tall and built to fit her hight. She wears HUGE flowers in her hair every day. They match her scrubs and on her they look FCKIN AWSOME Ive never seen anyone else who could pull of flowers in their hair after like 4 years of age

Don't listen to anyone who says 'I wear them, it's fine' fgrin

Very very few adult women don't look completely daft wearing things in their hair.
