Yodel grrrr!!!!

Just ordered some gifts from Argos to be delivered today, i chose today's date but despite this i recieved a text from Argos on Saturday saying my parcel would be sent then between 12-9pm!
All well and good as dh was in anyhow.
What i didn't realise is that they use flipping yodel.

After waiting all day and all evening, according to tracking info this parcel had been sent to the lady across from meConfused although dh had been in all day.

Anyway lady over from us was out out all day the next day so yesterday i sent dh over for this parcel only to find out they don't have it, and to make matters worse we never actually had a note from yodel eitherConfused

So i gets on the phone to Argos and apparently they are investigating it, i just want my bloody money back and i'm angry that Yodel are such arses.

They did similar last year when my sister ordered from Asda Direct at Christmas, Yodel said we were out & had left a note (they hadn't) and our items never arrived although kindly Asda sent replicas out which did eventually arrive a week later!

To make matters worse all of Yodels phonelines are automated so it's all robotic.
Aibu to be fed up with Yodel and it's shitty services and it would be nice if online stores stated they used these twits before checkout as i wouldn't bother buying from them!!

Yanbu, particularly that last bit. I think we should be able to make an informed choice wrt courier - Hermes or yodel should be clearly stated (yodel because they're crap and Hermes because they take forever!)
I have no issues with any other courier

YANBU. I don't order from anyone now who uses Yodel to deliver

I just find it odd that all these things can go "missing", very suspect imo

Yodel are the absolute worst as has been said on here many times. But Argos are responsible for correcting the problem here.

I agree lottie and tbh i'm rather angry they were quick to take the money but now there is a problem want to investigate rather than actually give me my money back or atleast send out another parcel!

With not long until Christmas i expect better

Yodel aren't necessaryily the worst. UPS are certainly down there with them. My new iPad was scanned onto a van last Monday and hasn't been seen since.

My last iPad had to be picked up from them when their driver went over hours - they had booked extra drivers to cover the expected increase in deliveries due to the release of the iPad but unfortunately these extra drivers were not cleared to carry high value items. Hmm

I arranged for them to hold my Macbook at their depot for customer collection so they decided to deliver it whilst I was at their depot trying to pick it up.

I ordered some things online on 2nd December, they've been sitting in a Yodel service centre 30 miles away since the 4th. No idea when they are being put in a van for delivery and I can't speak to an actual human on the phone. This is the first time I've had dealings with them.

I just can't believe the brazzen cheek they have by saying they delivered it to a lady across the road when i haven't had a note and it turns out the lady was out all day when this supposed delivery was to apparently have taken placeShock

The lady over from me has taken parcels for me many times and i know she wouldn't be lying.

I've had parcels last week dispatched via yodel and the first one is yet to turn up, the second dispatched after has turned up and the third not here yet but expected to be delivered before the first one.. Weird company

Couple of years ago Yodal threw my parcel over the fence onto wet mud and didn't find it until after it had rained. Needless to say the parcel was ruined!

I don't know where they find the majority of their workers from, off the set of Jeremy Kyle i presume!

YANBU, I have been waiting for a parcel from Yodel since Saturday when they were supposed to have been although I was in all day. I tried the webchat on their site yesterday evening and was told someone would be in touch..... I am still waiting.

I won't use anyone who I knowingly know uses Yodel now either.

A couple of years back I ordered several items that were being sent in one parcel, when it didn't arrive I called to find out what was happening. They had the courier call me who said that he had posted to the wrong address but as this was around the corner I could pick it up myself. It all sounded strange so I refused saying I wanted to check all items were present and checked before I accepted delivery and he could go and collect them and bring them to me the next day. However he did not show up so I called the company to let them know my goods were not received.

3 days later, I got a knock at the door from said courier. He said he had been told I had collected the goods and wanted me to sign his sheet. I refused which saw him threatening me and calling me names. I couldn't get rid of him and ended up threatening to call the police. I was 8 months pregnant and it was very scary. I called yodel straight away and asked for a full investigation. Never heard from them again!

That's awful - wonder what recruitment process yodel use to ensure their couriers are suitably shit incompetent

They must employ the unenemployable, maybe the sort no-one else would even consider taking

I refuse point blank to order from any company that uses Yodel. They are so astonishingly shit that I am amazed they are still in business.

The only exception I make is for Amazon because their customer service is so good anything that goes astray is replaced very quickly (in my experience, anyway). Also, it's impossible to know which delivery company they are going to use when you place the order.

We need to vote with our feet, as it were. If Yodel screw up, make a point of telling the company you bought from that as long as they use Yodel, they can forget having you as a customer.

Eventually the message will get through.

I would complain to Yodel on twitter if I were you - public shaming, etc. And ask Argos to send replacements via a reputable courier perhaps?

Yodel are the outfit that developed the habit of just dumping packages on my doorstep. This is right next to the street.

They wouldn't knock, and they'd leave the packages there whether I was in, out at work, on holiday, or even if it was pissing down with rain.

I ordered a Hudl to be delivered to my local tesco store for pick up.

Apparently it "got damaged" between the depot and the tesco store 30 mins drive away.

Yeah right.

And unfortunately tesco has no more Hudls left so can't send a replacement :(

So annoying that most companies use Yodel as i'm now completely put off buying online, which is a shame as i cannot get hold of most of the things i want instoreConfused

But if yodel is going to "lose" "leave" -steal then i'm better off not wasting cash on something i'll never see.

Just had a look on fb and a few people have set up groups, although each group doesn't have many likers there is still a good few people complaining on there!

I refuse to order anything online if I know further Yodel. They should have to state that they usr them as a disclaimer on all online orders!!

The last Yodel delivery involved us getting a completely blank delivery note, despite us both being home when the 'attempted' delivery took place. I called the number on the card and eventually spoke to someone who first off was very rude and said it had been left in our porch and it was OUR fault that it was no secure and it had obviously been taken, after speaking to a manager I was told it had actually been left with a neighbour ( no house number, but apparently with the surname 'Wilkes') DP knocked on ALL of our neighbours up to 10 doors down and across both sides, no one knew anybody of that name. Eventually they referred us back to the company we ordered off, apart from the number we were given was actually for a completely wrong company.

When we finally got through to the right company, they confirmed that our original package had never been collected from their depot and was still awaiting pick up by Yodel.Angry

I was in shock that a company could be so utterly crap.

I think it was Yodel, am fairly sure it was.
Waiting in for the delivery slot and suddenly got an email saying that as I wasn't in call the depot for redelivery.

Some determined googling and a public complaint via Twitter and I got the local delivery depot telephone number.
They got the driver on the phone while I held.
He'd left a card...he hadn't.
Explained that I work from home and can see the gate and drive from my desk (hah!) all of a sudden the driver admitted that he hadn't left a card, he hadn't been to our house - he 'couldn't find it'
To add insult to injury he then said he was too far away and hadn't got time to deliver after all.

I think in the end Twitter contact was very apologetic. They made a thing of delivering on a Saturday 'at no extra charge' but it didn't benefit me because as a rule Saturdays are less convenient, it was just the soonest they could come out again (think they should've delivered on the Thursday)

I avoid purchasing from companies if I know they use Yodel. It's unbelievable how many times you hear of them lying, hurling things over hedges and fences, leaving in random bins or other people's sheds and other blatant lack of care.

Maybe instead of tweeting Yodel we should target the companies that use them and tweet them and yodel together?
The only way Yodel will start bucking up their ideas is if the people who pay them complain.

Report
Manchesterhistorygirl · 10/12/2013 12:54

You can tweet them both at the same time.

I.e. @amazon I won't be shopping with you until you stop using @yodel.

They really are utterly appalling. I have many, many stories of their utter shitness.

Amazon have gone back to Royal Mail here and Kiddicare use citylink so we can avoid Yodel in this household
