and sums up everything I hate about current female singers

  1. Cover of good song turned into hideous twangly, twee poncy crappness. I feel offended for Keane, they come from my neck of the woods.
  2. Breathy, fake "cockney" pronouncation makes me want to rip my ears off. I absolutely loathe this style of singing
  3. The pronunciation of the word "getting" made me rant at the radio.

That's the end of any December radio for me

Which? The Keane cover or the "women's empowerment".

I vote crap for both

Somewhere only we know.

I have not had the dubious pleasure of hearing the other one

I really love the original Keane version-can't stand the Lily Allen breathy one-yack. And her other song is shite.

I don't like her singing voice at all. Is her accent fake? She went to very expensive schools so you would expect her to speak differently from how she sounds.

yes, I suspect it is an affectation

Is that the one from the JL ad? I like it!

Yes it's a fake accent.

I wonder if she fake talks all the time, even at home. What a strange thing to do!!!!Confused

Yep, it's twee & awful & she is annoying. Wonder if she'd have got a record deal if it wasn't for her father...?

I like her but I don't understand the mockney affectation.

She was on a TV ad for something like sky+ a while back and sounded incredibly posh. Like cut glass Roedean posh.

The original song was twee and shit, the cover is just as twee and shit.

She went to Bedales, the accent is a joke.

I don't mind that one but I can't believe Radio 1 are playing the other one in all it's 'glory' with a message to turn it down if you have children with you. Hmm How bloody hypocritical, they bleep out loads of other songs which have the same word in (think Will I Am and Britney) but yet play this which repeats it over and over. Is this favouritism or some new line they are taking on swearing?

she was on the radio the other day and admitted she can't stand listening to the jl one either.

She did it to sell records I think. Her whole breakout album was a big PR move to get her down with da kidz, innit.

Keane - music for people who don't like music.

does radio 1 really play it uncensored?! During the day? Shock (the bitch one, not the keane cover)

I like it, which is quite unusual when someone does a new version of a song I already know - almost always dislike the remake, but this is nice.
Shows what a quality song it is I suppose.

Yes lilola, several times a day. Hmm

Love the original, hate this cover. This whole mockney thing really gets on my wick.
