AIBU?

To think this year's M&S 'festive' advert is utter garbage?

Disclaimer: remember i said festive and not the C-word.

I cringed the whole way through. The only performance from Helena Bonham Carter that I've disliked. Roll on the John Lewis one. Grin

Yep I agree, it's pretty boring. The bit where she is running through the trees looks odd too. Why is it so long? I thought adverts were usually 30 seconds or so?

Arf. The bit where she falls down the manhole makes me think Kenny Everett 'and then all my clothes fell off!' (old).

Wow! I think it's fantastic, thanks for the link. I'm not sure about it as a piece of marketing and I've no idea what it's trying to sell - it certainly didn't leave me thinking 'I must go and buy x for myself/for someone else'. But I enjoyed all the references to the children's fantasy genre, especially the Alice ones at the beginning.

It's fab!!

Showcases hundreds of their products, particularly love the bit in the room on the carpet - you see lots of their nice lights.

Model beautiful, male model very attractive.

And I think Helena Bonham Carter looks great.

typical bollocks - why does she have to be on the carpet in her bra and pants???

"Model beautiful, male model very attractive."

I am wondering why she is the only one in underwear, though?

Unless it's because the director/stylist looked at the Women's clothes and couldn't make one decent outfit out of the lot.

I like the advert, but it isn't Christmassy and makes me feel cold, pity there wasn't any nice coats and hats in it (or the store).

Hate how she falls down the manhole and her clothes fall off. And her on the carpet in her bra and pants. It doesn't happen to the male model. He gets to keep his clothes on. Usual sexist crap.

Yes, i agree, everyone's very beautiful.

But it's just utter nonsense, isn't it? And not in a good way. It's all so cheesy and badly acted. It definitely doesn't warm my cockles like most other festive adverts do.
