Tesco plan to introduce a facial recognition scanner to allow adverts specific to your age and gender to be targetted to you at the till. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-24803378
This seems overly intrusive and would put me off shopping there, AIBU?

Ugh, YANBU YANBU YANBU and I agree! I hope that if Tesco do introduce this then other supermarkets don't follow suit. I don't really like the way things are going in terms of new intrusive technology being introduced to the public in these ways

I read about this the other day and my first reaction was "shit what if they start putting on advertisements for Zimmer frames when I'm standing there?!"

I find the whole concept a bit intrusive. What if they start scanning your smart phone and putting on advertisments for the things you've browsing at? That would be embarrassing.

I think they should give the customer an opt out option by pressing an off button on the screen.
