"Oh I love a real book". "I can see how much ice got left". Oh fgs ebooks are way better one handed reading. Easy storage. Easy to buy and HUGE FONT option for when you've forgotten your glasses or are drunk

Why do people go into mini orgasm about paper ?

LordPalmerston Sun 27-Oct-13 12:28:41

Is it "knobby" ?

(Disclaimer yes none of business. Don't plan on going out all day. Etc etc)

I've never had any-sized orgasm over paper hmm

I like my kindle, I like books

<shrugs>

LordPalmerston Sun 27-Oct-13 12:30:34

I find books so primitive now.
"Oh! You can't make the font big!" And you knew me

LordPalmerston Sun 27-Oct-13 12:31:11

"And you knew me "?! Dunno what I was typing then

Agnesboo Sun 27-Oct-13 12:31:49

I hate the smell of paper so love my kindle can never understand people who say "but you're missing out on the smell of a real book".

LordPalmerston Sun 27-Oct-13 12:32:24

And the germs. And snot trails. Ew.

Hey. I'm turning into a mn germ obsessive. ;)

I like both and think they have their places

PrincessFlirtyPants Sun 27-Oct-13 12:33:26

I like books. I do not like to read on a kindles or an iPad.

They keep me in a job for the next year

i love reading and havent got into kindle mainly because i cant afford to buy one but i dont get all snobby about prefering a real paper book thats just my preference, and love looking round the brilliant second hand book shop we have where i live, dont think looking at a website for a new download would feel the same as discovering an old victorian or 1920s interesting book to read

Ah well, I love the smell of paper.

But also love that I can take 1book/day on holiday without breaking my back.

It also bugs me that you cannot 'lend' books on eReaders to others tbh.

PrincessFlirtyPants Sun 27-Oct-13 12:33:50

*kindle

TallyGrenshall Sun 27-Oct-13 12:33:52

I can read a book one handed

I don't wear glasses so I don't need HUGE FONT

And I love the smell of books so ner

The germs keep your immune system trained up and are a Good Thing wink

SaucyJack Sun 27-Oct-13 12:34:41

I don't like people who're knobby about Kindles.

SeaSickSal Sun 27-Oct-13 12:34:41

I like reading books in the bath and would break a kindle with the water. For that reason I like paper books.

LordPalmerston Sun 27-Oct-13 12:34:56

Yes. I get the lending thing. Def.
I wish amazon would do a thing where you can give an ebook virtually and the recipient can't open it till the date concerned.

Agnesboo Sun 27-Oct-13 12:35:03

Weirdly though I don't like kids books on kindles I like to see their books. I confuse myself sometimes.

SeaSickSal Sun 27-Oct-13 12:35:34

And it is a pain in the arse making notes on kindle I'd you are studying.

LordPalmerston Sun 27-Oct-13 12:35:36

I thought that re baths. Then wondered when I last dropped a book on a bath. Answer = never

LordPalmerston Sun 27-Oct-13 12:36:25

Agree re studying. Yes. That's true. I buy academic books in paper but would read them at a desk.

SeaSickSal Sun 27-Oct-13 12:37:43

I have dropped plenty of books in the bath.

Lazysuzanne Sun 27-Oct-13 12:38:32

I prefer to buy books because they're cheaper and I can resell them on amazon when I've read them.

If a book has no re sale value and is cheaper on kindle then I get the kindle version

HappyMummyOfOne Sun 27-Oct-13 12:39:17

I never thought i'd grow to love my kindle but I do. I've now got no books left (bar odd study book) and lots more space. Never thought about the germ aspect though, although they would only be our germs and the packers at amazom grin
