AIBU?

WIBU to stop drying the cat?

Cat comes in soaking wet from the garden and comes to me to be dried. I rub her with a towel, and get her all nice and dry and fluffy. She then goes straight back outside and this is repeated ten minutes later. I think my cat is BU.

shave her or buy her a cagoule

She likes the rubbing and the attention.

Either that or she's an arsehole, like most cats, including my own two boys!

YABU. They melt if you don't dry them. Sad

Yep, we've had that today, boy cat came in from over the field covered in mud and soaking wet (this is a regular occurance) and wanting a fuss.

Only thing is he won't let you dry him, I have to corner him in the bathroom and then be hissed and growled at while I clean the worst of the mud off.

He then strops off to the bedroom for five minutes then comes back for a fuss.

I love shave her and buy a cagoule.

Gemma at least yours has the decency to object. This one seems to positively get off on it. I feel used.

Mine comes in and runs upstairs to sit on my bedroom windowsill. Fine - except that he goes bounding across my bed on the way and leaves muddy footprints all over my nice clean sheets! Can you train a cat to stop and wipe his paws on the doormat? Grin

Yup, same in our house, I've barely got my arse back in my seat after being shouted at by her to get get her dried, when I see her prancing about outside in the rain - she is a fucking cow of a cat.

Grin Norbert

DH does the cat drying (a bit obsessively) in our house.
Even cat is quite nervous when he gets the towel out on a wet day! I think a naice cagoule would be preferable indeed..

One night she stood outside our bedroom door at 2 in the morning meowing her face off cos she was slightly damp.......OH opened the door and shouted "you have got to be fucking joking!!" at her and slammed the door - she hasn't tried that again.

Ddog hates getting wet. Once wet he comes and demands towel and rub. Then shakes himself. Then rolls over Ds's bed to get the final damp bits off.

If no towel available goes to Ds's bed first.

On that basis, and if your cat is going to use you or your bed as its dryer, you ABU

ha ha Rhubarb - apart from the fact our door is shut - she doesn't like our bedroom and rarely comes in.

Reminds me of one particularly foul rainy evening sitting on the sofa with my son watching television. Our lovely old ginger cat coming in, shaking himself like a dog in front of us so the rain went all over our legs then going out again and repeating the whole thing several times.

I think he got a satisfactory reaction from us each time - well satisfactory from his point of view. It's surprising how much rain a cat's coat can hold.
