AIBU?

To think MNHQ should force OPs to come back and update

It's so so so annoying when you read the threads and then the OP buggers off, and you never hear back.

In particular, I want to know about the MIL who had the DIL with the dog who 'sat like King Tut' in the middle of the living room. I need to know how it all turned out!

I watch numerous threads on the hope the OP will return and say 'it all ended with a splash and a bang' etc but it never happens... instead, we just get left with half a story.

Maybe I should start one of those petitions on the 10 Downing Street website. I'll let you know how it goes... or will I?! Dun dun derrrr

sleep deprived with newborn, sorry

OP posts:

Orrrrr, maybe we remember that threads aren't online soap operas and are actually people's lives and aren't posted for our entertainment.

Hahaha yeah, good one Bruce Grin

You're right juniper, they should be barred until they've updated.

Alisvolatpropiis · 19/10/2013 22:49

As mildly annoying as it is when people disappear - Bruce is right.

To be honest I find it somewhat strange when ops update us almost minute by minute through apparent horrendous issues.

No, I don't think so Bruce.I agree with OP.

YANBU. Of course people couldn't be made but I think about a lot if posts but it would be great. One which still worries me is the woman who wasn't allowed in her own garage.

Congratulations on your baby!

I've had quite a lot of red wine and wanted to write something funny in reply to Bruce but I can't think of anything at all and now I'm thinking about the woman's garage which is not at all amusing.

I remember the garage one, would love to know what happened.
Yanbu. Congrats on baby.

Barred? I want them hunted down and shot!

Report
giraffesCantGoGuising · 19/10/2013 22:56

yes they should get a fixed penalty notice.

Report
ImperialBlether · 19/10/2013 22:56

Yes, what was in the garage?

Report
ILetHimKeep20Quid · 19/10/2013 22:57

What happened with the garage?

giraffesCantGoGuising · 19/10/2013 22:57

As for "real life" getting in the way - pah! That is what smart phones are for people.

HorryIsUpduffed · 19/10/2013 22:59

It's annoying when you see them posting on another thread and you feel like shouting "HEY! GET BACK ON YOUR OWN THREAD AND UPDATE ME!"

But yes, sometimes real life gets in the way.

Umm... if they get barred then they might struggle to give an update.... I think hunting down and shot might also be a little counterintuitive.

Personally, I think spycams, GPSs and hidden microphones are the way forward.

I agree. I still think about the woman with the friend who was experiencing a phantom pregnancy and was buying car seats and high chairs for the baby. Apparently her due date was a month or two away and we never found out what happened. Sad

Wasn't allowed in her own garage?? What??

Report
AgentZigzag · 19/10/2013 23:39

Even though Imperial's suggestion was genius, you're right Smoorikins, your suggestion is a little less dramatic and has the creepy factor that MNetters love.

I'm probably wrong, but didn't the garage one get deleted at the OP's request? After MNs said they were going round to break down the garage door for her

StrawberryGashes · 20/10/2013 01:07

Oh I like the secret camera idea...

Report
BuzzardBirdBloodBath · 20/10/2013 01:09

I think they should be made to stand in rackhams window in their undies.

Report
AgentZigzag · 20/10/2013 01:27

Generous letting them keep their undies on Buzz...

Bearing your arse on the Cathedral steps is the routine punishment round these parts.

The garage one was very disturbing, I would like to know what happened too. The DH was very secretive about the garage and wouldn't let the OP in there if he wasn't there. She was locked out and couldn't get hold of a key.

MinesAPintOfTea · 20/10/2013 07:41

I'm with Bruce. Much as I hope for updates I don't like when pressure is put onOPs to update. Its rude and ignores the matter that this is their lives, and MN is for support in theory, not just entertainment.

Report
GastonTheLadyBoy · 20/10/2013 10:05

YANBU It is damn right rude Grin

Were they never taught to finish what they started Wink

LittleBairn · 20/10/2013 10:18

Ah I was about to say YABU until reminded about the locked garage thread now I have missing poster frustration all over again! MPF blues. Sad

The garage obviously held the dead bodies of all his previous wives. No wonder the OP hasn't been back.

Report
ILetHimKeep20Quid · 20/10/2013 11:59

Is the thread still around?

Report
ElleMcFearsome · 20/10/2013 12:04

IIRC the garage OP did reappear to say that she was having to deal with it, and that she'd ask for the thread to be removed (no idea if it was) and she wouldn't be updating or discussing it further. So presumably not good Sad
