To think that the rude and nasty cows sat next to us in pizza express this evening

would be rather gutted if they knew that us being polite and nice resulted in a £24 discount!!!

So we made a last minute booking for pizza express this evening - got there and i could sense the staff were a little flustered, maybe short staffed? Anyway, we sat down for our meals, no problems. We ordered and there were a few mistakes - our starters weren't brought before our meal, so they brought them during, they were very apologetic and said they wouldnt charge us. A bit confusing as we were using an offer, but anyway we decided we wouldnt use the code because it would work out about the same price with the free starters so we ordered desserts not on the offer menu - they brought the wrong one for DP, he was fine with it, but they brought him the one he ordered for free - he was pretty happy about that - we joked with the waitress and when it came to pay, she asked for the code, i said, "oh it all went a bit pete tong, we'll just take the free starters instead" but they let us use the code anyway and "fiddled with the bill" resulting in a saving of £24 - very happy bunnies grin

Whilst we were sat down, a group of three women sat down and were generally dismissive and up themselves. Asked the guy for a taxi number - he said, ok, i'll get it for you - i was about to tell them a number as i know it by heart (on account of it being two numbers off my home number so i get a few late night calls) but i hushed myself shen she said to the guy "no, can you call the number for me" i made a hmm face at DP and kept my mouth shut. Then their drinks were a bit late in coming - honestly the woman made the weirdest face when she announced to the waitress "we have not had our drinks, can you bring them now!" no please, no thank you - and generally a snidey tone of voice. Then at the end of the meal she asked for a box to put the two peices of pizza in that they had left over and the waitress brought the box over or her - said to just put in what they wanted. I swear the woman looked at this poor girl as if she had commited some sort of heinous crime - and told her to put it in the box for her - and made sarcastic comments about the size of the box compared to the size of the pizza. I did turn to DP and say "well, she wasn't going to get her hands dirty was she" I am pretty sure the sour faced cow heard. REally love, you are just not that special, you are not in a michelin starred resturant, you are in pizza fucking express. Even if you were in the bloody Ivy you should still be bloody polite to the people who are waiting on you.

So ha! Little Miss up yer own arse - i got £24 off my bill <does a little dance> because i was nice - you got the full price, and the bums rush, beause you were a rude cunt! Yeah the service was a bit pants, but the staff were apologetic and rectified mistakes, so you really should have got over yourself shouldnt you - and yeah, i am feeling smugity smug smug!

Hah, I love a bit of divine retribution grin

Patosshades Sat 12-Oct-13 22:29:57

Not much worse than cunty customers.

everlong Sat 12-Oct-13 22:31:10

The women sound like twats.

But the service in PE sounds diabolical.

You should have had it for free!

Annunziata Sat 12-Oct-13 22:32:50

The service sounds absolutely awful. Customers should not be treated like that.

They don't sound that bad either.

zatyaballerina Sat 12-Oct-13 22:33:09

yanbu, not only is it obnoxious to be rude to servers but it's also incredibly stupid to be rude to people who have behind the scene access to your food. If they weren't eating spit covered pizza, they will certainly have at some point with that attitude.

bubalou Sat 12-Oct-13 22:34:15

You can always tell the real personality of someone by how they treat their waiter or waitress - this tip helped me rule out some potential dick heads in my dating past.

People like this are just small and pathetic and feel better about themselves by treating some poor underpaid restaurant staff like shit.

Don't worry - they probably spat in her food.

wink

LEMisdisappointed Sat 12-Oct-13 22:35:39

I have actually had a free meal in PE before because they were SO SLOW one night when we went there (another resturant). So we were given a free meal another night and they made us feel like royalty smile I think the discount we got this evening was fair, it wasn't a major issue to have our garlic bread with our pizza and it was all yummy.

To be honest I will forgive PE most things because of one thing; Cafe Real on the the dolcelette menu, with double espresso. Figs with syrupy sauce, marscapone cheese - better than sex i tell ya (and i really like sex)!

sulkymonkey Sat 12-Oct-13 22:36:02

the service sounds awful but so were the other groups attitude! I agree with bubalou, so true.

mignonette Sat 12-Oct-13 22:36:20

People who are rude to wait staff are the Camels armpits.

everlong Sat 12-Oct-13 22:36:41

Zaty you are so right.

I fucking grovel to anyone serving me. The slim shady video from long ago is ingrained in my brain.

LEMisdisappointed Sat 12-Oct-13 22:37:10

buba - id have given my arse a bloody good scratch before i put that pizza in the box for her, thats for sure!

comewinewithmoi Sat 12-Oct-13 22:37:21

Good on you. But you can't blame them???

everlong Sat 12-Oct-13 22:39:49

We go to the main one in Manchester city quite often and the staff are gorgeous. So kind and friendly.

When ds5 was a week old one of the waitresses was asking about him, I told her his name, Gabriel. She told me about a group called Lamb who had a song called Gabriel and that I should listen to it.

It's beautiful.

WorraLiberty Sat 12-Oct-13 22:40:13

I hate people with bad manners. She sounded awfully rude.

The service however was dreadful.

LEMisdisappointed Sat 12-Oct-13 22:40:27

The only thing that went wrong with their meal though was that their drinks came out a bit late, other than that, it was fine. To be fair, ours was a catalogue of errors but as i explained the staff were apologetic and rectified things quickly so i didn't actually think the service was that bad tbh. I have eaten in some really expensive resturants in my time, although since DD its been weatherspoons mostly so anything seems like the ritz compareed to that grin

vjg13 Sat 12-Oct-13 22:43:26

It does sound extra crap though, they had probably had their orders totally messed up too.

LEMisdisappointed Sat 12-Oct-13 22:45:08

no, just their drinks out late - i wonder if they were put out because their table was close to ours and we had a CHILD with us!

MorrisZapp Sat 12-Oct-13 22:45:41

I don't understand. How did your attitude and the other tables attitude affect your respective bills?

I get that you scored a good discount, but you had crap service and a voucher. How did the nasty party lose by their behaviour?

MorrisZapp Sat 12-Oct-13 22:48:08

Sorry but that CHILD comment is just annoying. Are you one of these people who hope that other people will be arseholes so that you can moan about them. It just sounds a bit like that, sorry.

Annunziata Sat 12-Oct-13 22:49:06

You sound a bit obsessed confused

You don't know anything about these women or why they are acting that way.

everlong Sat 12-Oct-13 22:49:42

Have you been on the wine OP wink

vjg13 Sat 12-Oct-13 22:50:38

You sound a bit over-invested in the other table's food, manners and attitude to be so sure of what problems they had! I don't think anyone expects PE to be child free.

ArgyMargy Sat 12-Oct-13 22:52:29

YANBU. Enjoy the smuggity smugness. gringrin

LEMisdisappointed Sat 12-Oct-13 22:52:40

obsessed, over invested, quite possibly - at the wine How very dare you!!
