That's it really.Ex work mate regularly posts pics on holiday, in the summer, of DD trying on mummy's clothes. She is 4. Completely fully naked pics where you can see everything.

I might get flamed, I know there aren't paedos on every corner but why on earth would anyone put naked photos of their children on Facebook? I wouldn't do it.

Also, and I know I am a cow, I don't particularly want to see pics of her daughter naked. Which is why I have hidden her.

Because naked small children are cute?
Maybe only her "friends" can see them?
Maybe she fails to see how a naked picture of a child then translates into the child being raped/ murdered.

Why would you look at an ex colleagues FB anyway. You obviously loathe the woman if you find her 4 year old so repulsive.

Because people are ignorant of the dangers of the internet.

I agree Op, I think some people are either naïve or deluded about the wisdom of doing this. Someone I know does this - we are not friends - their profile pic has 3 naked DC in it for ANYONE to see

What exactly do people do with the naked pics.
Even if one of the millions of paedos should see it, they're not going to leap out of the screen and abduct the child.
It's not very nice to think someone might be thinking very unsavoury thoughts whilst looking at them, but they can think like that watching kids on the beach.

Why wouldn't you though. Seriously can anyone say what actual harm there is in it. I don't do it myself never have but I don't have an issue with someone putting naked photos of their dc on.

Yanbu. Completely agree. I would be horrified if my parents posted pictures of me naked online while I was a kid for all to see.

YANBU. My friend put a photo of her completely naked 5 year old boy on FB.

FB is hardly renowned for its privacy.

I put pics of my DC on naked. Only has bums in shot though, seems less invasive than full frontal. But I don't see that much harm in it, they go naked on the beach/outdoor pool which is far more 'dangerous' than a photo.

I don't see the problem really, my dc have been tagged in paddling pools and such and I put a pic up of my ds when he was 4 with his best friend who was also 4 in the bubble bath together. I wouldn't say full nakedness but nothing being left to the imagination iyswim

I wouldn't just because I wouldn't want all and sundry looking at my DS in the nude. Even though he is totally adorable, has the most amazing little boy body in the world and looks somewhat like a cherub. It's just not on. Nothing to do with paedos or abductions but just because I would like his nakedness kept private.

It's daft and inappropriate I agree.

One of my friends has put pics of her children naked sat on the toilet on fb. I reported them, and they were removed.

I think its a disgusting infringement on the rights of the children to privacy and dignity. Once they are on-line they are there forever. If she wants pics of people sat on the toilet she should post them of herself.

I think any image can be doctored if you put your mind to it, perhaps they don't mind their kids running about naked either in the park or online so don't feel its a boundary or taboo.

As long as it isn't tagged to be retrieved from some long lost server when they're a teenager ....

I agree MrsW, it's an invasion if their privacy. I don't put any embarrassing photos if dds up.

Potentially their future employers could one day turn those pictures up in an on line search... It's like letting the genie out of the box, the pictures are out there forever and can't ever be called back in.
It's disrespectful to your children when they've had no say in the decision to use the images.

I try and be careful what I put on fb as I know my kids will be mortified when they're teenagers. Can you imagine what secondary school would have been like if other kids had access to your family photos?!! Gahhhhh

I do have a policy of not putting any of the DC up that I would be unhappy with if they were me (although DH did put one up of DS's first bath in that first flush of wanting everyone to see pictures of PFB).
I don't care about what other people put up of their own children though.

What they going to do? Sack you because you were sometimes nude as a small child??

I see nothing wrong with such naked pictures. According to poster/s above that makes me naive. So go on then, educate me. What exactly is the problem?

Report
Timeforabiscuit · 03/10/2013 19:56

The problem is that although you don't see a problem putting them up., once they are public it's a Dickins of a job to get them private again- so if your snap your cutie peeing in a paddling pool imagine it being put on their locker at school or with a daily mail headline over it.

The ones I truly truly hate are when it's obvious these are recent photos that the family hasn't released and there has been a tragedy or missing child.

Sorry - this happened regarding a child who was badly mauled by a dog, you don't want to be a parent walking past a newsstand wondering if your child is going to make it and their grin is on the front page Hmm
