Pro life anti sex repetition in my nursery

As in the society for the protection of unborn children. A staff member is displaying their petition by the register.

1. I object to that organisation and question their motives.
2. I don't fully understand this sex education thing but the above org are all edging it promotes porn in the classroom. Does it?
3. Aibu to think a nursery shouldn't be promoting a radical org anyway?

I approached the staff member and had quite a reasonable discussion about it but she didn't understand my objection about the pro life angle and seemed to think that part was irrelevant.

Totally inappropriate, I'd say, but which organisation runs this nursery? Is it Faith-based? Doesn't excuse it but may explain the attitude.

Complain and ask to see the nursery policies- they will have (should have) policies regarding equality. Although this does not fit exactly under an equality banner, it should give you some choice phrases to call the manager on to explain why they have decided to put up offensive posters.

If you have no joy then take your complaints to ofsted and tell nursery why.

If my child was going there I would be furious, and would be speaking to the manager/management committee. No matter how good the care was, it would be a deal breaker for me and if it was insisted was acceptable would be looking to remove my child. The nursery is not the place for this.

SPUC are lunatics. They were all over marriage equality, saying it would lead to a rise in abortions as hetero couples would no longer get married and would subsequently abort all pregnancies They never do anything to make things better for parents though, such as campaign for affordable childcare or for tighter laws to stop fathers (mainly) fucking off and leaving single mothers holding the baby. Twats.

YANBU OP. I have no words to describe how much I despise SPUC and all their ilk (another recovering Catholic here). I would be fucking furious too.

I second guggenheim's suggestion that you should report this to OFSTED - you should also make the Local Authority aware (Chief Exec / Head of Children's Services / Executive Member for Children & Young People - take it to the top).

It's not a faith nursery it's a small family run one (the staff member isn't question isn't in that family she just works there) that in general I'm v happy with. I was astonished by this event

I think I will go to ofsted if the owner ignores my complaint.

I had an anti abortion leaflet from them pushed through my door (in the dead of night) I was in a bad place at the time as I had just ended my last try of fertility treatment) I sent them a stinking letter back. Never got a reply!
They are a horrible bigoted group.
Porn is not taught in sex ed. The only time we discuss it is if a student does.

That flyer is completely deranged, even by the standards of SPUC (who raise the bar on derangement pretty high). It is, in terms, in the first paragraph, accusing the NSPCC and Barnardos of being active enthusiasts for the promotion of pornography in school contexts. Really. Seriously.

Depending on your mood and politics both organisations have done things you might disagree with tactically; neither was entirely blameless over the "ritual abuse" shambles, for example. But you'd have to be suffering from pretty serious delusions to think their hearts are anything other than in the right place, or that they do other than think pretty carefully about what they do. SPUC are putting the boot in on "Planet Porn", for example: it this makes it look entirely reasonable and sensible. "The focus at primary school is getting children used to talking about their bodies, in particular how girls' and boys' bodies are different" is said as though it's a bad thing, too.

And then Elizabeth Truss is roped into the conspiracy. Elizabeth Truss. She's quite right wing, you know.
