AIBU?

to be annoyed by the anti-intellectualism of Peppa Pig?

There is frequent and open mockery of anyone who says anything vaguely intelligent. eg Edmund Elephant is a show off clever clogs if he tries to explain gravity. Daddy Pig's job is also seen as unbelievably dull because it involves writing numbers on a board. There are more examples but I am too pregnant to remember them.

DS is ill today and I have watched about a million episodes of PP so I speak with some authority but may also just be reacting to the enforced wall-to-wall Pig. IABU?

I think the winey swine that is Peppa Pig has caused a reaction Grin

I know what you are saying but it comes across as tongue in cheek to me.

The whole Mummy having to rescue Daddy from his "expertise" I find amusing but again take it only as a bit of fun for the poor adults having to watch Peppa over and over.

YABU the episode where Delphine Donkey asks Daddy Pig about split infinitives (or whatever it was) was hilarious.

I find it very amusing. I have also watched back to back episodes today. The one with daddy pig describing concave & convex mirrors & peppa saying 'do you mean magic?' :)

Yes the 'do you mean magic' ones I do manage to have a sense of humour about. It's mostly the 'X is a bit of a clever clogs' that really gets up my nose. But SP I think you're right, I'm over-reacting due to too much pig...

Nagoo I haven't seen that ep, I'm both horrified and kind of excited to think there is fresh Peppa out there yet to be seen.

Peppa is a cow Wink My favourite episode is the one where she hangs up on Susie Sheep because she can whistle. DD loves it, it helps me do important things like go on MN clean.

Peppas voice is rather annoying but I like watching peppy pig! One of my dh's friends walked into a pub where we'd all met up for dinner and he was wearing a daddy pig t shirt! He was chuffed to bits to get so much female attention lol!!

My DH was always irate about the number of jobs poor Miss Rabbit had to do apparently just to feed and clothe Rebecca. He reckoned she was the face of every overworked single parent in the country.

(I just have to deal with the fact that the voice of Grandad Dog, David Rintoul, is the actor who played Mr Darcy in the BBC Pride and Prejudice shown when I was an impressionable pre-teen a long time ago.)

Likelucklove - the whistling episode is one which makes me think that whoever writes Peppa Pig knows little girls rather well. Smile

I love Peppa Pig! I find it hilarious. One of my favourites being the one with the funfair where Mummy Pig ends up winning all of the giant teddies because the mainly male stallholders keep telling her that the games are "too difficult for women" (or words to that effect). So she has to have a go & prove them wrong.

I was also very impressed by Daddy Pig's ability to keep calm when Peppa & George had made his "very important papers" into paper aeroplanes Grin. I can't imagine DH reacting in quite the same way!

Let it go. Just let it wash over you.
ALL kids' programmes are annoying in this sort of a way.
Count the days until your sentence is over and you can start worrying about the shitefest that is CBBC.

Without wishing to sound like a bit of a clever clogs cashmiriana, Miss Rabbit is Rebecca's aunt not mum. Mummy Rabbit is Rebecca's mummy and Miss Rabbits sister. Although mummy rabbit is a sahr so maybe Miss Rabbit helps out financially? Am I over thinking this?

Cashmiriana - Mummy Rabbit and Miss Rabbit are different characters! :)

I'm with you OP. I always feel I have to add 'it's great to be clever isn't it?' to my DD when Edmund gets slated. I also think Mummy Pig is a bitch but like you, I have watched far too many episodes and might be a teensy bit too involved Grin.

Daddy Pig is just like my FIL.

I hate my FIL.

Also Susie Sheep's a bit of a bitch as well!

I adore Peppa Pig. I've always said I learned more about how to be a good parent from that show than any amount of earnest books (just jump in puddles and if Daddy Pig chucks a chocolate cake into the supermarket trolley when it isn't on the shopping list, have a laugh and eat it!

Funny though, because I have a massive aversion to anti-intellectualism normally but Peppa Pig doesn't ever make me cross. Tracey Beaker and Horrid Henry on the other hand...

There is a Daddy Rabbit though. He works in Daddy pig's office, has a welsh accent and is a tour guide at the museum (abd appears to lack a sense of humour).

His two jobs I presume puts him in the higher tax bracket enabling Mrs Rabbit to be a SAHR due to a fairly healthy income.

Daddy Rabbit also drives the train IIRC
My DH's theory is that Daddy pig is a hedge fund manager, -how else can they afford to save the school roof every other week and jet off to Tuscany and fly back half of Italy as their souvenirs (no Ryanair luggage allowance for them)
My dad is just like Grandpa pig
Perhaps overthinking this....

Olivia, I thought Daddy Pig was an architect? What with drawing houses on blueprint and visiting the site when the Wolf family house was built

Peppa Pig has one of the few young children's TV theme tunes that you can pogo to. The only other I can think of is from Rhubarb.

ANd on that basis, YABU.

My personal favourite is the episode where mummy pig asks daddy pig to hang a picture and he manages to knock the whole wall down then re-builds it just before mummy pig gets home and she just bangs the nail in the wall and hangs it up Grin

Daddy Rabbit is Mummy Rabbits other half. Did you not see the twins being born episode? (x100, 000 Angry )

Miss Rabbit, her of many jobs, is Mummy Rabbits sister.

Susie Sheep is a fucking twat.

And I thought it was Miss Rabbit who drove the big train? Daddy Rabbit is a conductor and mans the station. Is it possible to have Peppa as a specialist subject on mastermind do you think or woukd they laugh you off?

I'm loving your theory about Mr Rabbits two jobs Spartacus, that makes more sense than Miss Rabbit subsidising things. I wonder if Miss Rabbit is the one who funds the school roof repairs? She doesn't have time to spend her wages.
