To think that this may possibly, perhaps, could be perceived as Bad Form?

DD2 brought a school trip letter home yesterday - 10 places to bexawarded on a first come, first served basis.

She was 8th in the queue, the pupil before her handed in her slip and 3 extras for friends.

It takes a lot for her to get out of bed early, and she really wanted this opportunity - one that her sister experienced 2 years ago, and I really wanted then tu have the same chance.

Gah

AIBU to be a bit miffed?

That title is shit.

That title is shit.

That title is shit.

YANBU - I'd be complaining about that.

YANBU at all.

Fairy1303 Wed 18-Sep-13 19:30:31

Personally I think it is bad form to have first come first serve for a school trip! That's awful!

But yes, given that they did it that way, girl in front should only have been able to hand in for herself, I agree.

YANBU

YANBU

That's not cricket

CatAmongThePigeons Wed 18-Sep-13 19:30:49

YANBU. Surely they should only take the form if the person is there to hand it in?

LittleMissGerardButlerfan Wed 18-Sep-13 19:31:07

YANBU to be miffed!

I could tell it was you from the multiple posts grin

But seriously that is not fair, I would take it up with school.

MarmaladeTwatkins Wed 18-Sep-13 19:31:32

YANBU bab!

I would complain, actually. It is NOT FAIR.

HairyGrotter Wed 18-Sep-13 19:31:36

YANBU

I'd be having a word about that, personally!

Sirzy Wed 18-Sep-13 19:32:09

Yanbu. I would contact the school

HandragsAndGladbags Wed 18-Sep-13 19:32:24

Should be names in a hat imo

Ledkr Wed 18-Sep-13 19:32:25

I'd be cross. You going to say anything?

You know what? I think I will. The probbo is, I'm a Governor there and really don't want to be seen to be doing things that might be seen as using contacts, or implying that the school is not following correct or cricket wink procedures.

Ugh.

Its not fair, the other kids should have gotten out of bed and handed them in themselves if they were that bothered.

I'd be much happier with names in a hat.

All slip so handed in by 3pm on X day have an equal chasnce of "winning".,

Portofino Wed 18-Sep-13 19:37:01

That ismSO unfair!

flowery Wed 18-Sep-13 19:37:06

If she was 8th in the queue she was 8th in the queue, so her and the two after her should all have places as they were bothered enough to get there early.

Floggingmolly Wed 18-Sep-13 19:38:19

The school is not following procedures; that's really crap. Why would you imagine being a governor means you have to suck it up? confused

BoffinMum Wed 18-Sep-13 19:38:36

She needs to get better at networking in future. An important life skill. wink

MarmaladeTwatkins Wed 18-Sep-13 20:14:23

Are you a governor, Chaos?! <snurk> You SWOT.

Come for coffee please so that you can tell me all about being a govinir. <flutters eyelashes>

SabrinaMulhollandJjones Wed 18-Sep-13 20:20:39

Our school stopped doing 'first come first serve' a while back. Names in a hat now - but my dc's names never seem to be the ones that come out of the hat <suspicious>

Yup.

I am a foine upstanding pillow of the community.

Whodathunk?
Sabrina, there's a secret special lip in that hst - so the draw can be manipulated. <<nods head>>
