45 minutes. 45 fucking minutes it takes to speak to someone and then they get as far as taking my details and we get cut off. And do they call back?? No they bloody don't. They obviously thought that was me got rid of.

Oh, and they've lost £600 worth of bloody sofa cover and don't seem to be interested in finding it. Or TALKING TO ME ABOUT IT. Rahhhh!

Seriously, shop somewhere else. Cheap tealights are not worth it.

(Off to sit on my uncovered sofa and drink a calming cup of tea...)

About 20 years ago I had a traumatic visit it Ikea, won't bore you with the details.

There was a suggestion box on the way out, I wrote on a slip ' This place is shite, I'm never coming here again'.

I have had no trouble sticking to this.

See, I rather like Ikea. But I'm going to have a rethink our relationship if they can't manage to send me my stuff!

Just to let you know, ive had to contact them recently about a faulty mattress and the bastards have charged me £18 in phone bills for the pleasure. Have spoken to them and apparently if you email them the bill they will refund it. Might be worth doing if it's cost you loads. Good luck!

I know I know I said I would never shop there again after one of their till people told my sister to "fuck off". However, buying a kitchen John Lewis is £35k Ikea £8k and looks nicer. Its a hard pledge to stick to...

Thanks Mrsrudy. I will do that. Dread to think what I've spent. I feel sorry for their call centre staff - people must be so rude to them after waiting so long (I wasn't!) And it's not their fault IKEA refuse to pay for more than 5 staff or something like that.

Good point Kerala. Although, what if something was missing when your kitchen arrived??

Couldn't get through to them on the phone, but when I e-mailed my problem was dealt with straightaway.

Thanks scholes, can I ask who you emailed? I can't find an address. There is a section to web chat, but I can't do that either, it says all advisors are busy.

McNew here's the recipe for the meatball sauce. Just get some Swedish meatballs (Aldi or Lidl) and make this sauce it's so easy.

My daughter bought a bed and wardrobe for her flat. They forgot to add on the slats for the bed and then managed to it the mattresses back in store I stead of sending them to her flat. Longest wait was 1 hour 20 mins on phone. It was awful. Lovely people on the phone when they answered who called us back several times but he must have therefore not have been available to answer the phone whilst sorting my daughters stuff out. She even waited 45 minutes at 9am.

Grin at divorce lawyers at the door.
Worst experience there was when DH INSISTED that we ALL go to look at lighting (rather than just him going, for example). DD1 3.5yo, DD2 about 10-11 months I think. None of their light fixtures seemed to have the wattage they were rated for - just which "energy saving" bulb was recommended. 1 HOUR of me entertaining very restless DC in a lighting area, while DH attempted to explain the question to the staff who had no idea what the question meant and couldn't seem to get it, that it might be a safety issue if you put a 100W bulb into a fixture that can only take 40W, later and I was livid. DD1 wanted to go to the play area; we waited 20 minutes in a queue going nowhere, only to finally be told they weren't accepting any more DC that day. Cue meltdown.
I made DH (who doesn't drive) take his mistaken light fixtures back there on public transit.

Oh dear, now I'm worried....we're planning on buying about £1k worth of stuff from there when we move in 4 weeks. I've been so excited about it Sad

You have to buy bed slats seperately. They don't come with the bed. Things like that make ikea crap imo

KitCat26 · 09/09/2013 16:05

We had a good experience with them, but waiting for a call to be answered took around 20-30mins.

We bought our kitchen from there, one drawer was cracked right through. They sent a replacement out next day. A journey back there would be about 200 mile round trip!

We had a good experience with our ikea kitchen too. They tried to deliver it early but we couldn't accept as we didn't have the room so they took it away and bought it back a week later. The kitchen was comparatively cheap and looks fucking awesome and it all works. Ikea stuff always works and is always easy to put together.

We only live 10 minutes away from the wednesbury store so it's a good job we like it!

I know ikea beds don't come with slats but the girl who helped put through the order forgot to put them on. It is mad though. The bed without slats is useless.

Go into the store and politely and calmly ask for the Duty Manager.

Bingo. Problem sorted Grin

I love Ikea we did our kitchen for 2k from Ikea and its cheap and lovely. I enjoy a strawberry tart and free coffee with my family card.
Our kitchen delivery came right on time with not a thing missing , and we had over ordered some cupboards so we took them back and got our cash back , you could t do that in any other kitchen shop.

I had the same last week. Nearly an hour on hold over a broken bit of flat pack, and when I finally got through the guy on the other end would not stop talking. If they're all like him I can see how the call centre has queues. Stil, he sorted it all out. Though thinking about it, I probably could have got a replacement for less than the call...
