When you mean 'you are' it's 'you're' as in 'you're having a bad day.' When someone owns something it's 'your'. As in 'that's your cake.'
Shouldn't bug me but it does. See it loads. On here.

And I can't bear misuse of 'there','their' and ''they're'.

If there their while they're I imagine heads shall explode.

grin. The thing is with me is that I am at least trying to remember the correct way to illiterate but it's difficult when you go by what you see. Therefore, I ask.

I'm the world's worst pedant, but I manage not to correct strangers' spelling & grammar.

Almost always grin.

I do wince at some of the clangers on MN.

I can ignore most errors but the thing that really makes my teeth itch and my toes curl under is would/could should 'of' instead of HAVE. I assume some people think could've sounds like could of but it drives me mad and is frequently seen on MN threads.

Yanbu.

SilverOldie

There was a post in another thread earlier today which saw 'of' used in place of 'have' no less than 5 times.

5 times in one fucking post.

But at least you didn't type 'off of', you'd have been hung at dawn!

Shouldn't that be hanged? wink

<joins pedants>

Surely it should be pedants' corner? grin
