YANBU. Do it. You will feel better.

I do it ALL THE TIME.

I carry extra on public transport for this exact reason.

Do it and then tell us what happened Smile

Thanks, unexpected.
I offered one, she took it, dabbed her nose and kept on sniffing. REALLY loudly.
I might just resign - no job is worth this....

OMFG the inconsiderateness.

You need to be even more direct.

"Please could you blow your nose properly and stop sniffing. or I will evacuate your nasal passages with a dyson

Do it do it do it.

And then tell us about it Smile

It may be a nervous tic. It is surprisingly common. Or she may have post nasal drip. Either way, might not be much she can do about it in the here and now.

I work with a woman like that, and sneezes loads! Everyday, so now we sort of have a giggle over it, and tell her to go blow her nose, I know it Sounds rude, but she is the sort of person you have a laugh with so we do it in a nice waySmile. If someone else has a cold she gets us backWink

I never know what is worse, to sniff all the time or blow all the time. Both are equally annoying.

Report
georgettemagritte · 06/08/2013 10:49

Could be hayfever, in which case she might not be able to help it. Sometimes even tons of allergy medication doesn't help that much and it actually inflames the tissues more to keep nose-blowing!

My dh knows I mean "Will you please stop sniffing, you're irritating me" when I offer him a tissue Smile

It really is annoying.

I'm afraid I wouldn't dare tell her to blow her nose, not unless she was my own child

Six hours.

12 sniffs an hour?

72 teeth itching, stomach churning sniffs to sit through.

CONFRONT her! All over on seconds, like ripping a plaster off Grin

Post nasal drip is no excuse, I should know I suffer from it, and allergic rhinitis, and sinusitis. I am however considerate, I hate sniffers.

Are you getting tense waiting for the next big Sniff op? Bet you are, I feel for you.

wait until she goes on a break and cover her desk in boxes and packets of tissues, i'll chip in with the expense OP, raid every toilet roll you can find and stack them in a pyramid right in front of where she sits. sniffing drives me NUTS

Lottapianos · 06/08/2013 11:02

How about saying 'you poor thing, you sound like you're really suffering. I find a good nose blow makes me feel so much better when I'm bunged up. Just get it all out!' with a helpful smile Smile

When I am Queen of the World, sniffers will have 3 chances to stop it and use a tissue like a normal human being before being shot.

I don't care whether it's hayfever, I don't care if she's Typhoid Mary - blow your damn nose! Nobody wants to hear your snot!

AlexReid, I suffer from post nasal drip and rhinitis too - what works for you? I am really sorry for TMI but I have constant runny mucus falling down the back of my throat and it is seriously unpleasant. I tried Beconase and Nasonex from the GP but neither made any difference.

Sorry for disgusting derail!

I feel your pain, I cannot tell you how much I feel your pain. These people deserve to die a slow and painful death.

Why do some arse wipes insist on sniff, sniff, sniffing. Blow your motherfucking noses people!

I have a colleague who does this, happily he's on holiday this week. If he's not sniffing he's coughing, if he's not coughing he's whistling. My rage levels rise just being near him.

Report
DramaAlpaca · 06/08/2013 11:16

I too feel your pain.

I have a colleague who talks to herself constantly. If she's not doing that she is humming, and if she's not doing that she is whistling.

If she sniffed as well I really would have to strangle her.

Yes, AlexReidsLonelyBraincell, I am. Thank you to you, and squoosh, and youmeatsix, and Lottapianos for feeling my (rather petty) pain. You are all my heros - maybe I can get through this....
