DD is 11 and has gone for her intro/try out in preparation for her starting boarding school in September. She has informed me that she has had spaghetti hoops for breakfast, she has no problem with it but Aibu to think this is not acceptable? I would like to think she was being fed nutritionally the same as she would be at home Confused

Surely you found out what the food was like before deciding to send her?

If it was every day I wouldn't be impressed but once every blue moon fine. It's not that different from having beans for breakfast really.

Is that all she had? No toast, eggs, bacon etc... Did they have cereal on offer at all? The odd spaghetti hoops or beans as part of a wider breakfast wouldn't bother me, but on their own that is a bit odd.

What's wrong with spaghetti hoops? Hmm

On toast, it's warm and filling.

Yabu!

What's wrong with spaghetti hoops on toast for breakfast?

Just spaghetti hoops on their own.. hmm maybe question that,

Was there fruit on offer or cereal?

What were the lunch and dinner meals offered?

What brand of spaghetti hoops is more important. Cheap ones taste like perfume.

I'd be worried if it was left over kebab bought at 2am on the drunken stager home. But spaghetti hoops not so much.

My boarding school did vile food and not enough of it.
I suggest you check what is on offer for every meal over the course of a week. Although whatever they offer, she makes the choice. Smile

Sounds lush

That won't be all there was

They'll have been cereal, fruit, toast, probably cooked breakfast too, eggs on toast etc

If she chose to have that then it's up to her!!

She had it with toast, the other hot food choice was bacon or sausages and she is vegetarian. I did look at the food menu before we decided but they didn't have a breakfast menu. Last night for tea apparently was chips, beans and chicken goujons, i think I will just keep an eye on it.

Anyone else really want hoops and toast?

I would certainly expect better from a school. If it was one of the options available, then possibly, but even so.....

what does the prospectus say about menus?

Whothefuckfarted · 03/08/2013 11:49

So the other hot food choice was meat which she doesn't eat, but you don't mention whether the was continental available, which I'll bet there most definitely was?

YABU.

What cold options were there?

My friend went to Rugby and clearly remembers seeing massive cans of value beans etc in the kitchen through the window. Apparently the food was terrible.

What did she have instead of chicken goujons if she's veggie?
Sounds standard for Friday

Sunday will be lush Sunday roast , yum

I wouldn't worry just yet

It's obviously not going to be as healthy as you cooking at home as it's mass catering like you get in canteens at secondary school for lunch

Don't forget though as they only have a small amount of children there now compared to during term time the meal options will be more limited
