I couldn't resist it's called a BabyRuth from the USA it's got, nougat, caramel and peanuts in it, it sounds lovely. I'm saving it for tonight, but was it unreasonable to pay that much for a bar of chocolate?

On the fence. Hershey bars are indeed horrible. But I have a weakness for peanut butter cups (although they're not as good as they used to be angry ) and sometimes spend £2.30 on an 8-pack of them from Asda.

You can buy Reeces peanut butter cups in Sainsburys

Hell no, pay what you want for what you want!

My favourite US chocolate is Hershey's Take Five. I'm yet to find any here

All American chocolate tastes of snot and vomit. Sorry America! But you did invent the cheeseburger so all is forgiven.

OP you wuz robbed.

Australian sweets rock! Cherry Ripe and Violet Crumble are divine. I fancy Musk Sticks and Redskins but haven't managed to try them yet.

YANBU - I would have spent that on Reeces peanut butter cups and the Reeces Nutrageous bar. Bloody lovely.

I went into a sweet store which of full of American sweets and chocolate. I saw bacon flavoured paste in a tube for buns and lollies bacon and chocolate flavoured shock

A baby Ruth isn't great.

Almond m&ms on which I paid £5 for 2 packs are another matter

Are Jolly Ranchers American? I remember a craze for them at school in the 90s, the E numbers were supposed to send you hyper.

ShoutyCrackers Mon 22-Jul-13 15:02:22

Jolly ranchers are very good

And do google ' this charming candy ' as I think they deliver to the UK and they are DELICIOUS

I thought American chocolate was supposed to be disgusting. I would have spent my £1.20 on Cadbury's! grin

Babyruth isn't all that

PeanutButterMmm Mon 22-Jul-13 14:55:43

I tried a "chunky" when in the USA. It was revolting!

SlangWhanger Mon 22-Jul-13 14:54:38

I really don't like American chocolate including Baby Ruths...

Although, if I was desperate, a Baby Ruth was the best of a bad bunch.

(pretzel M&Ms are ok too)

So, YABU grin

wonderingsoul you can buy marshmellow fluff in most supermarkets for £1.99.

Don't buy Butterfinger, it will pull all of your teeth out!

Cindy34 Mon 22-Jul-13 14:51:01

Sounds horrible to me... I'm a DairyMilk eater!
If you like peanuts then I expect it may be ok, though some American choc is horrible.

Sometimes I treat myself to choc from Hotel Chocolate, so no YANBU to buy chocolate that costs quite a lot, if you fancy it.

wonderingsoul Mon 22-Jul-13 14:48:43

I like Hershey bars, but I really love those reece's chocolate peanut butter cups <drools>.

SueDoku Mon 22-Jul-13 14:33:59

Hershey bars are just disgusting. DD bought me one when she visited New York, and the entire thing (minus the first small bite) went straight into the bin... sad

Edendance Mon 22-Jul-13 14:26:40

Undertheboredwalk- I've had some American friends bring me big bags of mint M&Ms over as I love them! They're amazing but so expensive to buy from a specialist shop!!

BreconBeBuggered Mon 22-Jul-13 14:24:38

A friend of mine bought some Hershey bars for her new American DIL, thinking she'd be thrilled, but the DIL had acquired a serious Godiva habit since arriving in Europe and wasn't nearly as chuffed as might have been expected.

noblegiraffe Mon 22-Jul-13 14:23:51

Hershey bars taste like sick.

£1.20 got me two Yorkies and a packet of Smarties at the Tesco petrol station yesterday.

Kasterborous Mon 22-Jul-13 14:23:48

They had an empty box of mint M&M's I was sad I really fancied trying some of them!

I recently paid a ridiculous amount for a very small packet of mint M&M's from USA. I love mint choc and couldn't resist. They were lovely, but the imported sweets are SO expensive! As long as its yummy yanbu though grin

Meglet Mon 22-Jul-13 14:22:09

Green + blacks is more than that and I buy it all the time. So yanbu.

American chocolate is grim though. Except peanut butter M&M's <drools Homer style>.
