AIBU?

AIBU to not give a monkeys about royal baby

Thats it really. A wealthy woman who has married into a wealthy family who takes even more money from hard working people is having a baby. So fucking what! I cant understand why people cow tow to a group of people who are unelected and have no admirable qualities at all. Before you tell me how much money they bring in - imagine the increase in tourism if we could actually get into the properties that we own once we kick them out.

Of course you're not BU...there's no law that says you have to give a monkeys.

Not sure why you've started a thread about something you really don't care about though?

MamaMary · 22/07/2013 10:18

You don't give a monkey's yet you go to the trouble of starting a thread about it.... Yeah, whatever..

AmyFarrahFowlerCooper · 22/07/2013 10:19

What they said ^^

StealthPolarBear · 22/07/2013 10:20

ditto

RoooneyMara · 22/07/2013 10:20

So you don't give a monkeys but you're starting a thread all about it? I think you do give a monkeys. Just in a very negative kind of way.

I don't think I can cope with any more baby threads today...it's bringing everything out of the woodwork.

Oh crossed posts. It took me a while to articulate that and I thought no one would agree with me.

usualsuspect · 22/07/2013 10:21

I don't give a toss either.

I might give MN a swerve until all the royal baby hysteria has died down.

I'm expecting at least 100 threads about it.

Fairenuff · 22/07/2013 10:22

It's history in the making. If you have any interest in politics or current affairs, then you would probably be at least mildly interested in the arrival of the new monarch (if the monarchy lasts that long). Either way, it's newsworthy.

But then, you are mildly interested, because you started a thread about it.

You can visit royal properties by the way.

Burmobasher · 22/07/2013 10:22

Wow an aggressive thread about a tiny baby you don't even care about

ThisReallyIsNotSPNopeNotAtAll · 22/07/2013 10:23

I feel exactly the same but didn't start a thread due to not wanting to talk about the royal baby which is what will happen here.

My view is I dont know Kate. Why would I care what stage in labour she is? I dont stand outside the maternity ward watching women go in then speculate with friends on the stages they may be Grin

FreudiansSlipper · 22/07/2013 10:24

YANBU

to care or to start a thread about not caring as all i keep hearing on the radio is this is the news we have all been waiting for

well not me i care as much as i care for all other women who are having a baby that their labour is not complicated and they have a healthy baby

this baby is not more important than any other born today and i dislike that the royals are treated as though they are

cocolepew · 22/07/2013 10:24

It's the media coverage that gets on my goat. It obviously is newsworthy but not the main item.

Suddenly all of MN are ardent royalists.

The bloody jubilee on here nearly finished me off.

Bunbaker · 22/07/2013 10:26

So you don't care and you don't have a massive chip on your shoulder about it either.

So what!

' I dont stand outside the maternity ward watching women go in then speculate with friends on the stages they may be'

Oh I do this at every opportunity! Grin

AMumInScotland · 22/07/2013 10:27

I'm happy for her in a general sense, in that being heavily pregnant in this heat isn't much fun. But I only 'care' in the same way as I would if someone at work mentioned that a distant relative had gone into labour. Sort of 'Oh that's nice for her, she'll have been wishing it out for a while now' kind of thing.

But the reality is that this sprog will be the king/queen one day, unless we get rid of the lot of them, so it does matter in a political sense in a way that other babies don't, no matter how important they are to their family and friends.

usualsuspect · 22/07/2013 10:27

So we are allowed not to care.

We won't get sent to the tower.

I'm not much of a Royalist either, tbh.

So i was more surprised than anyone when i found myself glued to the TV during the royal wedding and crying - yes, crying! - when i saw Kate and William together.

So although i don't particularly care much about them, I am a bit excited about a little Royal baba.

It just feels like a nice fairytale that us grown ups can be part of.

A little prince or princess - awwwww. Come on, release your inner softy. You'll feel better. Grin

ThisReallyIsNotSPNopeNotAtAll · 22/07/2013 10:28

usual I'm with you as usual. I just don't care. I dont care about the royal family and I dont care about their pregnancies.

I dont need to know all about it. "Oh I wonder what colour the royal mucus plug looks like' No she is just a pregnant woman. There are plenty of them around

Zynzong · 22/07/2013 10:29

Well the jubilee bored me to tears, but I can sort of relate to this! A woman having her first baby! I had long brown hair and was 31 and pregnant with my first once upon a time! it's the shared experience thing. She's been in the public eye for over a decade now, and stupidly, I am interested Confused Don't make me feel foolish for being interested!
